Bio

I have a passion for learning and instilling that thirst of lifelong learning in others. I have always loved learning, even in courses where I struggled. If fact, I have found that struggling through a topic often results in a better understanding and work ethic, but many times students need a tutor and mentor to guide them through those struggles. I have a passion for learning and instilling that thirst of lifelong learning in others. I have always loved learning, even in courses where I struggled. If fact, I have found that struggling through a topic often results in a better understanding and work ethic, but many times students need a tutor and mentor to guide them through those struggles. I want to help students achieve their near term goals and plant the seeds to help them develop a passion for learning that drives them to think critically and creatively.

I have special interest in the intersection of technology, business, and people. In pursuit of that interest, I have completed the BS in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Master of Business Administration (MBA), and Master of Theology (ThM) degrees. In addition, I have completed 28 credits of graduate courses in computer engineering. I am currently taking graduate courses in cybersecurity. This academic background provides me a strong foundation in mathematics, analytics, and critical thinking.

Following service in the military, my professional experience has focused on managing IT professional services for Microsoft, MITRE, Insight, Avaya, Hewlett Packard, and DXC Technology. I hold the Project Management Professional (PMP), ITIL Foundation, and Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) certifications.

I enjoy exploring the latest areas of STEM and how they impact society. While my tutoring experience has focused on mathematics, I have also tutored in some areas of physics, electrical engineering, computer science, business, English grammar, writing, and philosophy. In addition to tutoring, I have taught technical and leadership courses in corporate environments and life skills and theology courses in community adult education classes.

My hobbies include computer programming, electronics, history, weightlifting, running, and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and Team Rubicon.

I have tutored several students in the math sequence from Algebra 1 through Calculus III and Statistics, as well as the applied mathematics in calculus-based Physics. I have tutored these subjects for students in middle school, high school, and college.

Please feel free to contact me to learn more about my qualifications, tutoring philosophy, policies, availability, etc. All tutoring sessions will take place in public locations (e.g., library, coffee shop) or online. My availability changes frequently, so please contact me with the timeframes you require. Please schedule at least 24 hours in advance. I tutor primarily in the Flower Mound / Lewisville / Highland Village area. However, I will consider other areas on a case-by-case basis.
