University of North Texas (Education)
I am a recent college graduate. I graduated from University of North Texas with an ESL certification EC-6th grade. During my student teaching I was able to gain some experience tutoring students in math and writing. Also my degree coursework has prepared and equipped me to be an excellent tutor.
What I love about tutoring is that it allows one on one time with a student. This is extremely beneficial for students who are struggling or may have a hard time staying engaged in the classroom setting. I think tutoring over the summer also provides students with an excellent opportunity to practice what they learned the previous year and be prepared for the following academic school year.
I will be an outstanding math tutor because I know that it's important to teach children math by using multiple strategies for problem solving and finding solutions. I also believe that students need to practice problem solving skills that will equip them to build math knowledge and skills.
I will be an outstanding English tutor because I believe that developing strong grammar and reading skills begins with the student's confidence in their ability to excel in these areas. I plan lessons that model for students how to be strong readers and writers that provides modeling what we do when we read and write. I also provide my students with scaffolded practice that builds reading fluency and comprehension for my students.
I will be an outstanding Elementary Education tutor because I am a certified teacher and my training and experience has provided me with the tools and resources to help me be successful in ensuring success for my students.
I have a flexible schedule for the summer that allows me to tutor any days during the week. For your convenience I can come to your home or we could meet at a local restaurant or coffee shop for tutoring sessions. I am a recent college graduate. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
