I have Special Ed certification in Texas. I have 300 hours of intensive reading and 300 hours of ESL that I acquired through Florida State requirements. I have been subbing in the LISD district for the past two years at all levels. I am very successful with learning strategies and allowing student to explore their own learning styles while teaching them utilizing those styles. I enjoy all ages and have taught or tutored pre-K through college. I was an Adjunct at a private college teaching pre-college math, ethics, and career development. Common Core is federal/state mandated specific instruction at each grade level in order to move forward. I was involved in writing these directives in another state. Common core is the national directive for all states standards however not all states have accepted this directive. It is a guideline of specific instruction at each grade level that is typically tested before a student can either move to next grade or graduate.
I have a teaching certification in Special Education in Texas which includes Dyslexia as a subject matter. In addition I have worked as a long term sub getting the required tools and training to teach dyslexic students. I will be undergoing addition training to get a specific certification.
I have worked with students on several handwriting exercises including both print and cursive. This includes addressing the start and finish of the letter and directions of hand movements n connection of letters with cursive writing. Teaching cursive to dyslexic is required for them to better identify the form and direction of the letter. Using props to assist students with handwriting and formed letters for transcribing and copying for the younger students.

I am trained in Avid and Cornell notes for test taking as well as teaching. I taught test taking as part of intensive reading courses for context clues, Cornell notes, vocabulary etc.
