In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Currently I am a teacher's assistant in a high school special education program.
I have previously worked in a Middle School PAS program with a severely ADD/ADHD diagnosed student. I also work with other moderate to severe students in various classrooms. I do daily documentation on behavior, monitored in classrooms, as well as assist with daily classroom assignments.
I currently have 6 years experience as a Paraprofessional in the Special Education program. I feel that I can help students with Aspergers by helping them learn how to better interact socially, finding ways of avoiding repetitive behaviors, working on unusual rituals, communication, and coordination. By communicating with the parents we can see what types of skills we need to work on and then finding various activities to help improve those skills.
I have taken YMCA as well as Public School training in Autism. I have eight years experience working with Autistic students and have done personal studies myself on it. I have done In-Home Training with parents and children of various ages and enjoyed going to their homes to work with them.
I have experience giving Bible lessons due to my work in the Children's Ministry with my church. I have read through both the King James Version as well as the New International Version Bible. I am able to get references on various topics as well as methods of learning the books of the Bible. I feel blessed to be able to assist anyone who wishes to learn more about God's Word.
I received my degree in Child and Family Community Services. I currently have experience working with three-month-old children to twenty-two-year-old adults, both of regular development and special needs. I am currently a teacher's aide at a High School and wish to be able to assist the students to the best of my abilities.
I have been a part of music all throughout grade school. I have also taken a Beginner Piano class in college and own a keyboard to play music on. I have the knowledge of reading music as well as writing my own songs. I also have experience taking General Music in school and I am a part of my church choir.
Reading has always been one of my favorite subjects. I love reading as well as coming up with stories of my own. I love to help children not only improve in their reading skills but also begin to find out the kind of topics and subjects they are interested in. Once we figure out the topics of interest I can then begin to give the various resources to get them the books they love!
Currently I am a Paraprofessional in the Special Education Department at a High School.
I was previously a Middle School teacher's aide in the special education department rated moderate to severe. I have a Bachelor's degree in Child and Family Community Service and have experience working with special needs students of various disabilities and learning levels. I have also taken training on Autism and have experience working one on one with an Autistic children. I feel that this would be a good position for me due to my experience and training.
I feel that I can tutor Elementary School students in grades 3rd through 6th due to the training and resources I have available. I have received training called: Accommodations/ STAAR A/ STAAR ALT 2. I have also used the STAAR Practice Exams, to evaluate the elementary school students I have tutored in the past, to see what subjects they are needing more help with. For example, I have used the Practice STARR booklet, Language Arts, to work with a student in her requested subject areas. And was told by her mother that the areas I found her to be weak in were the same areas she had issues with on the actual exam. I feel that an early start in preparing these students can help them to be more relaxed when testing does come around and can do better in their more difficult subject areas.
