Hi my name is Chantele. I taught elementary school for 6 years. Honestly, my favorite part was working with the students one on one during specials or after school. Some students have difficulty making progress in a large classroom setting. I enjoyed immensely watching them gain confidence as we had time to make learning fun and not have the added pressure of others watching them.
I taught Science solely for 2 years, American history for 1 year and all 5 subjects the other 3 years. I have written children fiction stories for a website. I have always prided myself in my ability to make learning enjoyable. Almost any new information can be turned into a game or have stops along the way to review and reward oneself. I am certified in Kagan interactive strategies which keeps learning stimulating and motivating.
I am a very patient person and have always been able to put students at ease. I hope to hear from you and look forward to working with you. Hi my name is Chantele. Chantele has worked on handwriting and spelling with Kate. She makes it fun and knows when Kate needs a break.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
English is my personal favorite subject. I include reading in this, as well. I love the written word. I write fiction stories and hope to have a novel completed some day. I specialized in writing the last year I taught as it was tested in fourth grade in the state of Florida. I love helping students learn to express themselves and find the love of losing oneself in a book.
Reading is my favorite subject. I empathize greatly with those who struggle with it because I know the personal growth that can be achieved once someone has the power to discover new ideas through the written word. Some students' journeys are slower than others when it comes to reading fluently and enjoyably but I believe it can be achieved by all.
I worked as Science teacher for 2 years and, as a supplemental position, I was Science Department Chair for 3 years. I covered all strands in Earth Science and had one of the highest scores in the county on our state-wide test, FCAT, in 2007-2008.
I worked with many ADD/ADHD students in my teaching career. The ADHD students noticeably had the hyper-activity component. Most cases I saw were ADD and they had trouble focusing. Reminding the students that there are techniques we can both use to help their situation seem to put them at ease and prepared them to work.
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology in 1999 from East Carolina University. It is a fascinating subject which searches to understand mankind by doing cross-cultural and historical references. It is also ever-changing.
I have been a Christian for more than 15 years. It would give great pleasure to share and teach God's word with students.
Ecology is a passion of mine because of my love for the planet and its inhabitants. I think it is very important for the upcoming generation to know what damage has been done and what steps can be taken to correct and prevent future damage. I find most students are motivated in this area as well which is very exciting.
