In high school, I participated in the International Baccalaureate Program, and graduated with my diploma. I was also an AP scholar. In college, I graduated magnum cum laude in Chemistry, with an emphasis in Environmental Chemistry and a minor in Mathematics. While working on my emphasis, I took a soils class. I enjoyed the class so much that after graduating, I returned to get a second Bachelors' degree in Horticulture, and graduated summa cum laude. I love learning, and sharing what I have learned with others is just as much fun for me as originally learning the information.

After college, I worked for a small municipality. When they upgraded to Microsoft 2010, I had the opportunity to be the only employee trained by an outside company on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. I also had my computer upgraded before any other employee, so I could find any bugs between software programs. Using this knowledge, I then taught the entire employee base how to use each of the programs. This included making handouts outlining various procedures, and troubleshooting problems over the phone between buildings and departments.

I have tutored math and chemistry off and on for ten years now. I believe that all mathematics and science has a practical application in our daily lives, even if we don't use the exact process. Mathematics and science teach persistence, dedication, and problem solving skills without which we cannot be successful members of society. In my tutoring, I try to encourage students to continue on, even when they wish to quit. I encourage students to see how various lessons tie together so they can properly piece together the information they have learned. Often, I find that success in current assignments requires revisiting earlier mathematics lessons that weren't learned properly. I have found that taking the time to make a strong mathematics foundation ensures better success later on.

Nothing is more exciting to me than science. My enthusiasm and love for the subject can often inspire students to look at th
