Bio

I've worked as a secretary at a middle school and a paraprofessional (similar to teacher aide) in a special education at an elementary school. As a paraprofessional I've been working with Special Education students in grades K-5. My middle school experience was in Texas while my paraprofessional experience has been in both New Hampshire and Texas.

I'm very thankful to be working for the school district. Thanks to this opportunity I have summers off, just like the kids, and I know that many parents are worried about their student's next year or them forgetting material over the three month break. I have experience planning lessons to help them remember what they learned this past school year, and preparing them for next year.

I' have passed the exams to teach any subject in grades 4-8 and teach Special Education in any grade. While a paraprofessional, I've become certified in Crisis Prevention and Intervention, to help diffuse potential dangerous situations, though those certainly shouldn't happen with one-on-one tutoring!

In 2013 I had no idea I would like to become a teacher, but in 2014 I got my first job in the education field and really enjoyed it. I've since changed my track to make this my permanent career field. I really enjoy working with students and making the lesson 'click', and showing how it can be fun to learn. Learning as a student isn't always fun, but it can be once you can connect the lesson to something you care about. By helping to link the lesson to what a student Loves the entire process can become fun and easy for all involved.

Personally, I've been married for over six years to a now-veteran. She and I traveled around the United States and lived in Italy and Korea. My main interests are cars, motorcycles, geography, statistics, technology and politics. In my free time I play with our dogs, play video games with my friends and spend way too much time at night jumping from article to article learning about unusual topics like the General Secretaries of Soviet countries, past Mexican wars, how craters are formed, lakes and alternative energy sources.

My Business Administration program included accounting, statistics, probability and economic courses. I enjoy working with numbers because they never require opinion and are always honest. Once it can be understood how to solve the problem, the specific numbers matter little. Statistics are specifically enjoyable for me because you can understand such a wealth of data from the information.

I'd really enjoy the chance to help any students. Spending time studying topics is something I do in my free time, so it would be great to be able to share my enthusiasm for education with students one-on-one.

Computer

Microsoft Outlook,

Microsoft Outlook

As a secretary for the Assistant Principals for a middle school I worked with MS Outlook daily and would set up meetings with multiple administrators and teachers, parents and use the program to communicate with a multitude of staff with the district and with parents. I would manage three Outlook schedules and had access to several more to ensure that times were free and everybody was aware of the meetings, with alerts and timed reminders. Beyond my professional use of the program I've been using it personally since I was in middle school in 2004.
Microsoft Windows

Microsoft Windows

I've been using Microsoft Windows since I was 7 with Windows 98. I've since used Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7 and 8. I've yet to get a new computer to tinker with Windows 10, but look forward to doing so. My friends and colleagues often come to me for help with problems they've encountered and I've most always been able to solve their issues. If I don't know how to solve it already, I'm comfortable troubleshooting myself or searching for guidance so that I can learn how to do it. I was also going to major in IT, but it was a difficult process online without the personal interaction afforded by a in-person professor.

Elementary Math

I have experience working as a paraprofessional (sometimes called a teacher's aid) in a special education classroom at an Elementary school working with students on math and other subjects. I enjoy working with numbers because they always have a single correct answer, which you arrive at by following mathematic procedures.

I've always done very well in social studies courses and have taken them as electives when possible. In my free time I watch educational videos and read works about history and the development of civilizations. I've taken several college American Government and US history courses. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Currently my full-time job is working as a paraprofessional in a self-contained Autism room with 11 students, 3 kindergarten, 6 first graders, and 2 second graders. I work on a team with three other paras and the teacher on record. I'm specifically in charge of the reading and writing lessons for the students. It's essential that the students are given the tools and skills to use the tools so that they can learn to effectively communicate their needs and desires. So often these students are so sweet, and really enjoy the learning process when given the proper amount of instruction and attention.

Excellent Tutor

Brennan is an excellent tutor; extremely patient and kind. He assisted my 9th grade son with an English protect and was very thorough with ensuring my son understood the requirements outlined in the rubric provided by his teacher. I would highly recommend Brennan and would most certainly schedule a session for my son with him again if needed.

Very patient and connected well with my student

First session went very well. My student was able to understand the concept of simplifying equations and has completed an assignment on his own. My student showed confidence in himself for the first time in a long time.

Awesome tutor

Brennan is an awesome tutor, and his price is very reasonable. My struggle is with astronomy and statistic, Brennan helped me understand both subjects a lot better. As the course continues, I know it will become more challenging and I will continue to call Brennan for help. Thanks for all your help Brennan, I will spread the word about how great you are.
