I'm a working certified teacher of high school sciences and a lifelong learner myself. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a Master's in plant cell and molecular biology, and with every class I’ve taught, I’ve learned more. I have taught physical and biological sciences including Physics and Chemistry, Biology, AP Biology, and I currently teach Medical Microbiology, Dual Credit Biology, AP Environmental Science and Earth and Space Science. My education and varied experience have given me a strong base from which to tutor those who need help in different topics in science, especially the biological sciences.

I enjoyed learning in college and I still do, only now, I learn through teaching, and I can show you how too. Learning science can be intimidating, especially with a full load of other classes to think about, but if you’re seeking a tutor, you’re already doing the right thing. The next step is to delve into what you’re struggling with and get that help you need. As a teacher, I enjoy helping students make strides in science, and as a tutor, I look forward to the opportunity to work one-on-one with a new batch of science learners!

Botany,

Botany

Besides a fascination with plants and their biology I have formal education and years of teaching experience in botany. While my bachelor’s degree included all aspects of biology, my master's was exclusively in the field of plant biology with an emphasis on the evolution and genetics of pollen development. My experiences there required an understanding of plant evolution, cytology, physiology, reproduction and development, and included lab techniques in plant cell culturing, greenhouse, molecular manipulations and various types of microscopy. As a high school science teacher, I have primarily concentrated in the biological sciences and therefore continued to emphasize and expand previous knowledge in plant sciences each year, especially in my dual-credit (college) biology class, with a student-led/teacher supported semester-long botany project. In addition to these experiences, I have continued to be interested in plants, and regularly conduct research and listen to podcasts in the plant sciences. I am confident my knowledge and experience makes me a valuable asset to those interested in improving their understanding of botany.
Physical Science,

Physical Science

My experience in the physical sciences includes teaching the following high school courses: Integrated Physics and Chemistry (IPC), Earth and Space Science, and Physics. IPC is the physical science course for high school students in my district and consists of one semester of chemistry and one semester of physics. I have also taught the full year high school physics course which includes an introduction to science, kinematics, energy and momentum, electrical circuits, optics and light and nuclear physics. Earth and space science is a primarily physical science course dealing with the chemistry and physics of the earth, with some aspects of biology and environmental science. These together, along with the various chemistry classes I took in college, qualify me in the field of physical science.

Test Preparation

STAAR,

STAAR

In addition to my education and teaching college biology, AP biology and AP environmental science, I have taught freshman biology for the STAAR test in Texas and had a 90% or greater passing rate each year I taught it. I am completely familiar with teaching subjects with standardized tests, and am intimately familiar with the subject matter and with test-taking strategies.

Great tutor

Jennifer is a great tutor. She is nice, patient, respectful, and knowledgeable in her field of work. She takes the time to break down the material to you in a form of way that will help you best understand what is being taught and given to you. She makes any difficult work feel easy. she definitely helps you finish your work on time and receive a good grade on it. I would definitely recommend Jennifer to any student who is struggling in science. She is definitely worth it.

Caring and Hardworking Tutor

I was taking my first marine botany class as a college requirement after not taking biology in 6 years, and Jennifer truly helped me turn my grades around. Each week she would dedicate time to read through the many notes, lectures, and course readings that were provided to me, in addition to spending hours via video chat assisting me with assignments. Jennifer was very honest about her level of botany knowledge, but if she did not understand something we would work it out together. Something that was also very helpful was that if she noticed I answered a question wrong, she would always explain to me how it was wrong and help me to discover the correct answer. I would recommend her to anyone needing biology help in the future.

Great great tutor!

Jennifer responded really quickly. She was able to help immediately, within the hour of me requesting a tutor-really just a few minutes after I had posted my need. She was super patient with me trying to link up as I had technical difficulties. CLEARLY explained the process in physics that I was confused about, which is good because I will need to completely understand it so that I can pass the final. I would definitely use Jennifer again and again and again. Super cool, super patient, quick responding. . I grade this teacher A+😉‼️

Patient Engaged Knowledgeable Fun

I came into this with an expectation of a dry, not too interesting subject. Jennifer made it fun to learn and getting me interested in Biology is a C H O R E . She did.

Endomembrane System Transport and exam review

We reviewed the method by which proteins are transported from the ER to the Golgi Complex to lysosomes. We also did some general review for my upcoming exam. Jennifer was very helpful in explaining the diagrams in my PowerPoint presentations from Bio lecture.

Jennifer review

I had a lot of anxiety about physics but after spending an hour with Jennifer I felt silly because it became simple to me. She is very professional while still being comfortable and sociable to work with.
