Trinity University San Antonio Tx (Physics)
Starting at the age of 16, I was an instructor at a Taekwondo dojo where I taught students ranging from five to fifty-five years old. I had to manage the children's parents' and try my best to be likable to the students. Over my years of working there I gained experience working with children and teaching in general. Currently, I am a math tutor at Mathnasium and I enjoy it very much. Being able to see the look of a student's face when they understand a mathematical concept makes me happy. Considering I am majoring in Physics and maybe Math, I am very passionate about mathematical phenomena and attempt to share my enthusiasm with others. I would love to teach more students about math or science. Thank you.
I have taken Geometry, Algebra I and II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I, and Calculus II. In all of these courses, my worst test grade was an 85%. I love math, I consider math to be an art; as it only exists to exist and it is not created, but discovered. With this fascination, I believe I can teach math to many different students with many different learning styles. I learned teaching in various ways while working as a Taekwondo instructor.
I discovered my passion for physics in high school. In my opinion, physics is simply applied math. Not like statistics, but mathematics to describe and understand the nature and mechanics of the world and universe around us. I grasp physics concepts quickly and retain them well. I would tutor my peers before tests and quizzes, therefore I feel as though I would be a great physics tutor.
When I had to leave my dojo, many students were sad to see me go. I believe this has to do with my ability to relate to students and teach them in the most effective way I can. I love helping students expand their knowledge and perspective on fascinating subjects such as math and science, especially physics. As they say, Biology cannot exist without chemistry; chemistry cannot exist without physics, and physics cannot exist without the beauty that is mathematics. Thank you. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
