Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (Marketing, Honors)
When I was in college, I accepted a fluke job as a tutor for our Division I athletic department. I thought it would be nice to earn the extra money; little did I know how much I was going to love helping people learn. Over the next year and a half, I became the most requested English tutor within the program, and had half a dozen regulars who scheduled multiple times with me a week to help them with their projects--from writing papers, to helping them formulate their thoughts. My students came to me with dramatically increased grades, and rarely made below an A on a paper I helped them with. Through their eyes, I learned how to be a more successful and effective tutor, and I am thankful for the opportunities that job afforded me.
Now, I want to give that gift to others, and learn from them in the process. Writing has always been a piece of my identity. I want to show others that it can be a piece of theirs, too. Writing is not complicated; it's an art form, and requires work. It will never be a perfect art, but it can be beautiful from each artist that masters it. I want to help you realize the artist within you, and help you fall in love with your art.
I am a published author. In addition, I scored a 740/800 on the grammar portion of the SAT. I maintained a 3.81 GPA in college while graduating in two and a half years, complete with an optional undergraduate thesis and honors accolades. I have had to learn a higher level of writing in order to achieve these feats, and want to instill in students that same level, and passion, for writing that I have. It's not as hard as it sounds! :)
Please contact me if you're having trouble understanding and loving the concept of writing. I want to unlock the potential that I am confident is within you. Send me a message and ask me about my writing experiences, and how I can help you be the writer that you want to be. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I received an A in both Business Communications and Public Speaking in college. In addition, I became Toastmasters certified in high school. I completed several theses and research projects in college, all of which required professional presentation, and I was given stellar grades on all of them. I believe these experiences have given me the skills required to educate my students on public speaking.
