I am a licensed professional engineer by trade, but I have been tutoring for about 35 years. I tutor Math, Physics, and many other subjects. I graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1985 in Civil Engineering. I was a tutor for the Amarillo College tutoring system and the University of Texas at El Paso while I was attending school. I have for many years, and am currently, tutoring students privately. I helped many students improve their test scores on exams, and I can do the same for you too.
A specialty of mine, among many, is mathematics. I can show you how to work many problems two or three different ways. You can decide which method is best for you. I solve each problem step-by-step, to make sure you can see how the solution is derived. I prefer to work one-on-one to ensure that there is a complete and thorough understanding of the subject. I have helped more than 600 students achieve higher scores than what they have previously received.
I feel that through tutoring, you can change lives. I recently ran into one of my former students, 15 years removed, and she said that even though I didn't remember her she definitely remembered me. She exclaimed, "Without you tutoring me, I would have never become a registered nurse!" This makes me feel a sense of accomplishment and I want to continue to make a difference in people's lives. I do find Basem a tutor who is patient and dedicated to his students. He can be reached at short notice and is always willing to help his students up their grades. He goes way beyond the call of duty, sometimes spending more than the time he gets paid for.
He did something that still astounds me - I told him that my daughter's grades in Pre AP Physics and Pre Calc were dropping and he was genuinely concerned. He asked me for the teachers' details which I provided and he called each one asking what my daughter was doing wrong so he could intervene. He came the night before some major tests to do a review with her. Now, isn't that something? You can tell that Basem is genuinely interested in his students beyond the pay. I recommend him without hesitation
Thank you Kemi. I do care about all my students. I want them to do well.
He helped my daughter with algebra 2 and he didn't leave until she totally understood the problems and how to solve them correctly. He is absolutely great. I highly recommend him.
Very satisfied with the services that you provided. I am happy with the confidence Leah has after her first session. She is eager to be taught again by Mr. Basem.
Super helpful lessons and reviews. My brother felt confident after the session and we look forward to setting up a recurring relationship with Basem.
Mr. Basem helped my son gain the knowledge he needed to retest on a subject. He improved his grade by almost 50 points. He was able to communicate the difficult information in an easier to understand format. This helped my son get the concepts he needed to perform well on his test.
Basem D. helped my son quite a bit with Physics. He was very patient and thorough. Right before my son's final, he changed his schedule to be available to help him. We really appreciate his dedication to his students and passion for teaching.
I want to thank you for your feed back and I hope he is improving because I do care about all my students. Thanks.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
