Our son is currently a high school senior, working with Joyce on the Critical Reading Section of the SAT. In two sessions Joyce has identified the specific area he needs to work on to improve his score. My son has quickly bonded with Joyce and really enjoys working with her. He is already showing signs of improvement. Selecting Joyce as his tutor was the first sure step in achieving the goals set out for our son.
Joyce thought me the basic ACT English grammar skills. She is a patient teacher, and she is a nice person.
This is my son's first lesson with Ms. Joyce. He said Ms. Joyce is patient and nice, explains in detail on the short story for literature analysis. We are very happy to have her as our tutor.
I will on behalf of my daughter (16 years old) highly recommend Joyce's tutoring service. Joyce is very a nice person and has great teaching skills.
My daughter has challenges with math. Joyce is very patient and adapts to the needs of the student. She uses different modes of teaching to engage the student. I would highly recommend her!
Very patient and understanding, listens to my weaknesses and works from there. Explains each subject and gives pointers and key ideas.
Joyce is an amazing tutor who not only captured my 6 year old's attention but also taught him reading and writing techniques that he utilizes on a daily basis. Joyce worked with my son once a week for a few hours and we started seeing a difference in his reading ability and reading comprehension within two weeks. We no longer live in the area otherwise we would still have Joyce tutor our son. I highly recommend her to any child needing help or just a little boost!
Joyce helped me a ton in just a short amount of time. I couldn't have asked for a better act tutor! I would definitely recommend her to anyone needing help quickly!
Joyce is an excellent teacher. She taught me how to study for the toefl, how I can identify the answers. As well she encourages me to move forward but the most great virtue is her patience. Thanks Joyce for your help.
She helped my son increase his ACT English Score from a 24 to a 30. Joyce is well worth the investment.
My daughter has really appreciated Joyce's patience and tutoring for the SAT's critical reading and writing. Joyce has motivated her and gets her very excited with her tutoring and guidance. My daughter will take the SAT next week and I am sure she will greatly improved by Joyce's classes.
Joyce S. was one of the best tutors I've have in a long time. I was looking for someone who would be patient and understanding. I learned so much from Joyce, with her help I received A's on the accuplacer test. There should be more like Joyce.
She is very experienced interacting with her students; she took the time to learn about my son. My son indicated to me after the first lesson that she was excellent.
Joyce was very patient with me and my language deficits and laid out a plan for working with me on my writing and grammar, but honestly I was so tired after a 10 hour work day that I was not a very responsive student. Thank you for your time Joyce and I will revisit this when I have more time.
A calm in the storm for us--things are already turning around.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a minor in theology from Trinity Christian College. I have taught Bible classes in several private schools in Michigan, Illinois, and Mississippi.
