Bio

I've been an educational consultant and tutor since 2003 and have trained several tutors under me. I remember the stresses of being a student like it was yesterday, so I relate to each learner. I adapt quickly to each learning style and explain concepts and strategies in simple English because I believe everything is simple (even rocket science) if you break it down into pieces. I adapt quickly to each learning style and explain concepts and strategies in simple English because I believe everything is simple (even rocket science) if you break it down into pieces. I teach and counsel K12, college, and adults. My most common subject areas: Spanish (I-V AP), Math (algebra, geometry, calculus), Test Prep (PSAT, SAT, ACT, STAAR, GRE, GMAT), Speed Reading (for timed exams), College admissions (application, essay, counseling), Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)

I know the benchmark standards. I tutor pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, trigonometry, calculus, SAT math, ACT math.

I have a bachelor of Science from Texas A&M in Chemistry and have been teaching/tutoring Chemistry for 15+ years.

I have a minor in Spanish from Texas A&M University and have studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain. I have been teaching/tutoring Spanish for 15+ years.

As an educational consultant, I help students with interviewing, public speaking, auditions for 15 years. I have also taken and apply strategies from the Dale Carnegie course.

I have been a College Prep Educational Consultant for 15+ years. My students get admitted into the college of their choice, and many earn scholarships (some fully paid).

I consider myself a Renaissance woman since I enjoy teaching/tutoring a wide variety of subjects. I have been teaching/tutoring for 15 years and also train other educators how to teach/tutor.

For 15+ years I have help students get into their college of choice, interview for prestigious universities, and I even prepared a beauty pageant contestant how to answer questions in front of an audience on the spot. I have taken the Dale Carnegie course (in addition to several speech courses) and teach these same techniques to my students.

Spanish

I've been teaching/tutoring Spanish for more than 15 years in Texas. I know what it's like to learn Spanish from the classroom. I still remember all the questions and challenges I had while I was a student...that's how I relate to my students today. I recognize when a student has a question even when it's not asked. I took Spanish all through grade school (5th-12th grade) and college. I stayed with a family in Barcelona, Spain through the International Student Exchange (ISE) program and got a minor in Spanish from Texas A&M University in 2001. I have been helping students speak Spanish ever since.

Common Core

As an educational consultant, it is my responsibility to know what is on the state benchmark exams, how to interpret results, and how to fill in the knowledge gaps. I have the Common Core standards memorized. I also tutor prealgebra, algebra I/II, geometry, precalculus, trigonometry, calculus AB/BC/I/II). I can look at any students work and see exactly which concepts are missed. Even in Geometry, there is some algebra. Calculus utilizes algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Because I have a strong foundation in all of these areas, I can see the root of the student's struggles.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have been helping students succeed and actually learn to love Algebra for more than 15 years. I have worked with students from 8 different school districts and 14 universities. I break down complex concepts into easy-to-understand steps. I also teach Pre-Algebra, so I quickly recognize the source of the issues: if the underlying struggles arise from the current curriculum or if the problems are from previous math courses, such as Pre-Algebra (math builds on itself). Instead of using intimidating jargon, I explain even the most abstract ideas into simple English. I believe even rocket science can be explained in easy-to-understand terms. My students go from failing to straight A's, honor roll, advanced placement, and even valedictorian status. I specialize in spotting gaps in foundational understanding, even when the student doesn't ask a question.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Texas A&M in 2001 (honors program). For my undergraduate research, I studied the biochemistry of cholesterol. Immediately after college, I worked as a chemical expert in the Energy sector for El Paso Production (now Kinder Morgan) for 2 years, but my true passion was teaching/tutoring. I started teaching/tutoring Chemistry full-time in 2003 and have been helping students excel in Chemistry ever since.
