My passion is teaching! I am totally committed to providing students with the necessary skills, knowledge and discipline to ensure students’ success. Also, I love working with elementary children. I am currently on my eighth year as a Texas Certified Bilingual teacher. During these years I have taught all content areas, but my major focus has been in Reading and Language Arts, and Math.
I believe that learning is a never ending process. For such a reason I became a Mechanical Engineer, and a few years later, I obtained a Master’s degree from the University of Dallas. And, now I am preparing to embark on a PhD. Program. As part of my teaching habits, I constantly talk to my students about why they should work hard and never stop learning so that they can be ready for college, since this will expand their potential future opportunities.
But learning does not have to be boring. I always strive for making my lessons and activities the most relevant and engaging possible. By having my students make connections between what they are learning and their own personal lives, students can better appreciate the importance of learning.
Finally, it would be a real pleasure for me to tutor you or your child in English Reading Language Arts, Spanish Reading and Language Arts, and Math in both languages for any elementary grade level. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As part of my corporate experience, I have worked for more than 20 years as a professional Business Manager and Director. As part of responsibilities, I had to lead and manage different business functions within the organization, ranging from: Marketing, Sales, Strategic Planning, Business Development,Manufacturing, Purchasing. In addition, i have worked fir companies in differing industries such as: Beauty products, Consumer Products, Services and Industrial products.
I am a Texas Certified Bilingual Teacher for grades EC-8th. I have the preparation, competency and skills to to teach all these grades.
Since 2007, I have taught, and/or tutored grades 2, 3, 4 and 5. During these years, I have taught all content subjects in elementary school. In so doing, I have been very successful in advancing my students to a higher level of growth, and in the TAKS and STAAR tests.
I have over 18 years experience working in different marketing positions. I have led and managed marketing related functions such as: Marketing, Marketing Support, Strategic Marketing Planning, Motivation and Communication, Packaging Development, Product and Business Development, International Marketing. In addition, I have taught Marketing related courses at the university level for over 18 years. Including: Marketing Management, International Marketing, Strategic Marketing, marketing Research, Consumer behavior.
Since 2007, I have been teaching for Dallas ISD. During thus period of time, I have taught and prepared students from third, and fifth for the TAKS and STAAR tests in Math and Reading (English and Spanish). My students were successful for the most part, as they showed significant growth, and my passing rates were in the range of 88-90% for TAKS and 85-88% for STAAR.
