Texas A&M University (Biology)
Hello all! My name is Ricki and I can tutor all Sciences and some math courses.
I graduated magna cum laude from Texas A&M University with a BS in Biology in 2010. While I was there, I also minored in Secondary Science Education and obtained my composite certification to teach all sciences grades 8-12. Educating students and cultivating interest in the sciences is my absolute passion!
I am currently teaching Chemistry and advanced Biology at a local high school and have 5 years of previous experience tutoring both one-on-one and in groups. My main concentration is in Science for the older kiddos, but I have tutored math, reading and science for elementary-aged students in the past. Additionally, I have tutored pre-Algebra and Algebra for both high school and college students.
I believe in individualized instruction whenever possible and have never tutored a student the same way yet! Every student is a different person and learns in a different way, whether its visual, auditory, or kinesthetic. I ask students how THEY want/prefer to learn and work from there. I like making science relevant to students' daily lives and prefer to have discussions about science rather than a monotonous session where I just talk at the student for an hour (blah!).
Thank you for taking a look at my profile and I hope to hear from you soon! Hello all! My name is Ricki and I can tutor all Sciences and some math courses.

She has an easy style, is patient, and covers exactly the topics that my son needs. We are so happy we found Ricki.
Ricki arrived well prepared and was able to really understand the material my son needed to cover in the session. She has a very pleasant personality. My son has issues with time management and Ricki is able to keep him focused on the material.
Ricki tutored our granddaughter last year in AP Chemistry. She came to our home for lessons and was always on time. She is knowledgeable, patient, and provided quality one on one time. Our granddaughter felt it was a positive experience and would recommend Ricki to others.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I currently teach a Science ACT prep course twice a year for my current employer. I have access to prep books and practice tests that help students understand test taking strategies.
Biology is my greatest area of expertise. I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas A&M University.
I currently teach advanced Biology (both IB and AP) at a local area high school and have tutored several students in this subject in the past.
As a current high school Chemistry teacher (both pre-AP and on-level), I have extensive experience communicating this subject in a way that is easy to understand. In a subject that has quite a few abstract concepts, I have spent the past few years of my career developing hands-on activities to make Chemistry more approachable to the average student.
I am currently an active high school science etcher certified to teach all sciences including Physics.
I have several hours of experience tutoring fundamental Physics to both high school and college students.
