John taught Physics in a simplistic and understandable manner. He was thorough and was precise with all of his explanations. He gave the confidence that I need in the classroom.

John walked me through several difficult question clearly and directly. If I had issues with the solution he was explaining he easily moved into more detail to provide more in-depth explanation. He spent a good deal of time preparing for our session by reviewing a couple dozen physics questions I submitted and was prepared to cover each one completely.

He's very kind and patient. He'll go over similar problems as many times as you may need. Definitely recommend him to you.

John was extremely knowledgeable and was able to take difficult material and make it understandable. In just a few sessions my daughter not only knew the material, but was much more confident. We could not have asked for anything better than what John was able to accomplish!

My son and I commend John, our tutor, in possessing the resources to be ardently thorough, by all exemplary standards, in my son's tutorial sessions. He was able to expound proficient methods of comprehension, toward achievement in the subject matter. John possesses a prolific perception in a systematic approach to explication of relationships in mathematical concepts. John demonstrated that he is able to systematically challenge an individual with confident recognition of the aptitude that is innately possessed. In John's articulate sharing of instructional methods, my son could proceed to meet his expectations academically, with confidence, in analytical and comprehensive problem solving techniques.

We have been working with John for a couple months...WONDERFUL, you won't find a better tutor. John is VERY patient with my son, who has disabilities. He always makes sure my son "totally" understands what he is teaching him and keeps it very positive. He also tries to get to the root of the problem when it comes to what my son is not understanding. John is always on time and works with whatever time we need. My son enjoys working with John which I can say...is a first. We have used many tutors through the years and he always dreaded them he actually looks forward to working with John. If you are reading this, you are trying to pick a tutor which can be very overwhelming...STOP... try one session with John, you won't find a better tutor for you child. We wish we would have found him years ago!!!

John works very hard at finding the best way to get information into my brain. He has been very helpful.

A very intelligent and educated tutor. Very personable. A great asset to Wyzant. John is detailed and meticulous in his approach. I saw results after the first session. John W Is worth every cent of his fee and more. I highly recommend him and look forward to working with him throughout my studies.

John has been able to get math performance out of my 18 year old daughter that no one to date has been able to do. She took her ACT test this weekend and informed me that the Math section was "easy". I can tell you there is only one reason the Math section was "easy" and that was because John had her so well prepared!!!! He is an excellent instructor and really knows how to get his student engaged with the subject material. I just wish we had met him earlier. Thank you so much John.

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1 steps up strongly from Pre-algebra, and students encounter the need for development of greater reasoning skills. I have worked extensively in assisting students in their development of the reasoning skills demanded in the solution of problems in algebra. Algebra 1 sets the stage for success in all the math courses a student encounters and is in many ways more important than the upper level math courses. I have worked with algebra extensively and understand what we need to do to master it.

Algebra 2 builds strongly on the skills acquired in Algebra 1. I have worked extensively in assisting students in their development of the reasoning skills demanded in the solution of problems in algebra. I have an M.S. Theological Studies from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. In my studies, I have studied the major religions of the world. Studies include Hinduism, the question of caste and sub-castes, its various forms such as Sikhism, as well as its many expressions of the ultimate from Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. Study of Buddhism includes its origins in Hinduism and the rejection of religion and the infinite in Zen Buddhism. Yoga varies in its application from Hinduism to Buddhism to Zen Buddhism. Buddha preached religion absent of authority and ritual and emphasized the four noble truths of Buddhism. Confucius-Kung Fu-tzu or Kung the Master, born c. 551 BCE influenced Chinese culture until the early twentieth century. Temples and other monuments were built for the religion of Confucius who emphasized family and community and respect for elders. Lao Tzu born c. 604 BCE founded Taoism, more of practice than other major religions, The Abrahamic religions of Islam, Judaism, and Christianity all trace their origins to Abraham and differ in belief and practice. Islam sees Muhammad born c. 570 ACE as the prophet of Allah, and the last prophet. God delivered the Koran to Muhammad which Islam reveres as the Work of God in contrast to the Judeo-Christian view of Scripture as inspired. Judaism is characterized by practice rather than belief in contrast to Islam and Christianity. One does not have to subscribe to a particular set of beliefs to be Jewish. Examining these religions looks at which embrace the thought of the infinite, orthopraxis, and orthodoxy.

My knowledge of religion, philosophy, and theology greatly contributes to the tutoring and teaching of religion, and I believe students can benefit from my tutoring.

I have five degrees including B.S. Electrical Engineering, M.S. Industrial Management, M.S. Physics, M.S. Theology, and Ph.D. physics. These degrees required a variety of study habits. I earned the honorary degrees of Phi Eta Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi, evidence of good study habits. In this academic work, I achieved through knowing how to organize study habits and in discerning areas that required emphasis for success.

I successfully use what I have acquired in assisting my students to better organize their work and study habits. This assistance consists in showing students how to study smart. Studying smart requires methodical approach to learning. For example in the study of a course like biology, the student learns how to approach the material, highlight key points, and check in the margin items that are not clear. He/she works on the items that require clarification and erases the pencil checks as he/she gains understanding. In that way, the student always identifies areas requiring extra work and focusses on those items.

In addition, I assist the student in working out an organized study plan and identifying appropriate study aids for each course.
