I'm Laura. I am a math major and economics minor at Texas A&M University. I have been tutoring math and English for almost a year. My specialty, however, is tutoring math. I have experience with students of all ages, from Kindergarten through High School. I have also taken extensive college math courses that have allowed me to learn and understand complex topics in math, and have access to a variety of math textbooks and materials that a student could ever need. I have tutored in a classroom setting with kids of varying grades, which allowed me to be skillful in a variety of topics. I also have experience tutoring one-on-one to give special attention to those who need more guidance. Moreover, I have provided supplementary help on topics students are currently learning in school, as well as created lessons plans for students who wanted to learn a new subject from scratch.

I have always loved and been good at math, but what I truly enjoy is helping someone who is struggling or is very close to understanding a concept and just needs a little guidance. I have been very lucky to have had great math teachers and professors my entire life and believe this is one of the reasons I've always enjoyed math. However, I know this is not the case for many students. Math is a very cumulative subject and if you don't understand or never learned a small detail, whatever comes after is very difficult to grasp when you have gaps in your math career. Suddenly, it can feel like you're very behind and become overwhelmed. However, I have found once students have filled these gaps of knowledge, what felt like a monumental problem has now become manageable. I want to help students become less scared to approach math, and perhaps, come to enjoy the subject.

I have experience tutoring math from Elementary to High School, with subjects including:
Pre-Algebra
Algebra 1
Algebra 2
Pre-Calculus
Probability

I have been tutoring students in English (reading and writing) for almost a year. My students have ranged from Elementary to High School age.

Feel free to contact me for any more details on my experience and qualifications. I am also opened to teach different levels of math from what I have experience in already. I have a flexible schedule and am willing to work with you on any concerns you may have.
