I recently graduated magna cum laude from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, with minors in Chemistry and Classical Studies. I was also the Latin tutor for my university for the last three of my four years in college. I enjoyed being able to help other students with their coursework. I have the most experience tutoring Latin, but I am also qualified to teach a wide range of math and science subjects, with math all the way to upper level Calculus and Differential Equations, and with science, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, and Engineering. I try to motivate students to enjoy what they are studying. If a student is struggling with a topic, I explain the topic in as many ways as I can so that the material is fully understood. I believe firmly in being a lifelong learner and try to instill this in my students. In my free time I enjoy learning new languages casually, biking and watching Netflix.
I excelled in my chemical engineering studies in college while fitting in a classical studies minor as well. I received only three B's in my chemical engineering courses in my four years of college, with the rest being all A's. I always enjoyed studying with friends in my classes because I could explain many concepts and problems to them when I had a good grasp of them.
I was the outstanding senior in chemical engineering at my university. I have passed the fundamentals of engineering (FE) chemical exam. I understand things conceptually and am able to explain the concepts in multiple ways.
I have close to four years of tutoring experience in Latin. I have taken four years of Latin in high school and two semesters in college. I received a 5 on the AP Latin exam in my senior year of high school. I have experience working with translation of Ovid, Vergil, Caesar, and some Cicero. I have used the Cambridge Latin courses in high school, and the Wheelock's textbook in college.
I am able to help with translations, both English to Latin, and vice versa, and help with the language at any level (high school or university). I am also capable to help with topics in the chemical engineering curriculum. Please feel free to message me to schedule lessons or otherwise reach out!
Phillip knew the material very well. He explained the concepts in detail. He was also patient and went over the concepts a few times until I understood. I highly recommend Phillip for principles of Chemical engineering concepts. I will definitely reach out to him in the future.Guido, 1 lesson with Phillip

Knowledgeable and patient tutor
I came to Phillip to help me with my MATLAB class. I was very lost in this class, and I leave knowing and understanding how the program works. I HIGHLY recommend Phillip to not just anyone struggling with MATLAB but in any subject in general. Phillip is very respectful, understanding, and patient. He truly does care for his students. When I didn't understand something he would teach me using different methods until I understood what was going on. I cannot say enough great things about Phillip. I passed this class thanks to him. HIGHLY recommend him.Saul, 22 lessons with Phillip
I'm a struggling engineering student who contemplates dropping out of the program regularly. Working with people like Phillip keeps me motivated. Phillip is very well rounded in his education from upper level mathematics, computer science, and engineering. Phillip has helped a lot with a C++ course this semester and helps me gain a grasp on the harder concepts. Don't hesitate to take a lesson with Phillip! I strive to be as well rounded in education as he is some day.Blake, 3 lessons with Phillip

I reached out to Phillip late tonight for a MATLAB assignment that's due tomorrow! He helped me complete it even though he had no time to prepare or look over it ahead of time. That's how smart he is!...creating algorithms on the spot! He is very gentle and patient. He's capable of helping you with PhD-level assignments.Kyra, 3 lessons with Phillip
