About Tony

I went to the University of Texas and got my degree in Petroleum Engineering. I am now a math tutor on the side while I work full-time at a church. Tutoring is a great joy of mine, because my favorite moments are seeing a light bulb come on for a student when they are working through mathematics. Algebra is my strength subject, but all mathematics are on the table for me to tutor. I simply ask for my students to have a notebook to take notes, any homework they've been given, any test or quizzes that have been given back to them and their textbook. My process for tutoring is to first work through homework, then work through test/quiz corrections, prepare for upcoming tests by doing extra problems in their textbook, and finally do some extra practice on math concepts that weren't fully understood from an earlier grade that are resurfacing again and causing problems.

High School: Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Calculus
College: Engineering Calculus I, II & III, Differential Equations, Geostatistics

Let me know if you need help. Math always builds on earlier concepts, so if someone is having trouble my goal is to figure out where the breakdown took place at the earlier math level. Many times, we will spend a good chunk of the tutoring session focusing on fundamentals to get the student back up to speed with their grade level.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
