About Deborah

I became a certified teacher 9 years ago when my sons started high school. My own sons struggled with math and I started tutoring them, their friend, the neighbor's children. I also teach high school math classes at HCC so I have a lot of experience teaching struggling math students.

I love to teach students. I have a lot of experience teaching all high school math subjects at Bellaire HS and at HCC.

My first high school math tutoring experiences were my sons and their friends all sitting around my kitchen table with at least three different math subjects represented. I am good at explaining math in a way that students can understand.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Financial Accounting

Also, I am a retired high school math teacher with over ten years of teaching college and high school students. Since retiring, I tutor college students regularly in accounting in both financial and managerial accounting.

Managerial Accounting

I am qualified to tutor Financial Accounting because I am a CPA. I worked in the accounting profession for over thirty years.
