About Allison

I'm a recent college graduate ('15) who is currently pursuing her Masters in Spanish through Middlebury College, with a projected graduation date of August of 2016. I have spent the past year living in Madrid, Spain and will spend the 2016-2017 school year teaching English in Madrid at a bilingual high school. During my undergraduate career, I taught Spanish to first graders for 2 consecutive semesters and also volunteered with disabled children on a weekly basis. When I return to the United States in the summer of 2017, I plan to teach Spanish in a bilingual school in my native city of Houston, Texas.

While living in Spain, I have participated in language exchanges with people of all different nationalities and thus am accustomed to communicating with them and teaching them English.

Because I both majored in Spanish during my undergraduate career and am currently pursuing my Masters in Spanish I have experienced what it is like to learn a foreign language and the common difficulties one might face. Likewise, over the course of the last year, living in Madrid, I have worked to perfect my language skills by speaking with native Spanish speakers.

I look forward to sharing my love of the Spanish language with my students and have a fairly flexible schedule! I look forward to working with my students to overcome the difficulties they are facing to make Spanish learning fun and enjoyable!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Spanish

Majored in Hispanic Studies at Davidson College from 2011-2015 and will finish my masters in Spanish with a specialization in tutoring in August of 2016 through Middlebury College. I have also studied in Spain 3 times: Granada, Spain (fall 2013), Cadiz, Spain (summer 2014) and Madrid (2015-2016)
