About Wesley

I've been tutoring for the past 3 years as a private tutor and at San Jacinto College North. I am a former chemical engineering major at University of Houston, and I am currently studying math. I speak fluent English and Spanish.

I graduated high school in the top 5% of my class. I was a member of Phi Theta Kappa at my community college and participated in the Honors Program there. In my spare time, I like to read (fiction and nonfiction alike) and, occasionally sing at my church choir.

I've received an A in every math course I've taken in college up to and including Calculus III.

I've helped many students of all ages struggling in math and science. If you need assistance, don't hesitate to contact me!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I made an A in this class in high school and understood the material very well. I have also helped other students (in high school and college) with the same material. In addition, a thorough grasp of algebra is necessary for higher-level math classes such as Calculus II and Differential Equations, which I've also taken.

Algebra 2

I made an A in Pre-AP Algebra II in high school. Mastery of this course proved essential in subsequent math classes such as Pre-Calculus. Many students that I tutored who were taking college algebra struggled with concepts that are introduced in this course. As a result, I've reviewed the material extensively and have become more proficient in algebra than any other subject.

Chemistry

I made an A in Pre-AP Chemistry in high school and understood nearly all of the material. Though I sometimes struggled with certain concepts, I worked hard and succeeded in this course. In addition, I took General Chemistry I and II in college and made an A in both. The professor would in many cases have me use my exam as the answer key in front of the class, since I most often had the highest score. After I began working as a tutor, the same professor often recommended me to his students. Also, as a (former) chemical engineering major, I've had to review many concepts in general chemistry in preparation for more advanced courses such as Organic Chem and Chemical Processes.

Prealgebra

I've helped out a number of middle school students with pre-algebra in preparation for Algebra 1. Many of the same concepts also appear in remedial math courses in college, where I've also helped.
