About Chioma

I have Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and I am currently pursuing a Masters in Electrical Engineering. My current GPA is 3.93. During my undergraduate study I was part of academic team in the students’ association where I organized tutorials to assist students in courses like algebra, calculus, differentiation, statistics, and power systems related courses. I recorded significant success rate in terms of students’ performance – 80% of the students I tutored made an average grade of A, passing their courses excellently, the feedback from the students are evidence upon which my convictions that my being a tutor would have a positive impact is based.

My main goal is for the student to understand the concepts thoroughly before going into the computation. These simple concepts are usually more likely to engage the student's imagination, and show the reason for the computations. I am currently a graduate teaching assistant with College of Technology at the University of Houston where I am afforded the opportunity of continuously tutoring students through their course work and assisting them to achieve success.

I have chosen to become a tutor because I am a living testimony of the impact of tutoring; from my childhood to my undergraduate and even my present life. I was fortunate in life to have been mentored by one of the best teachers in the world; Mrs. Gladys taught me that no star was too far out of reach, if I put my mind to accomplishing my goal I could make it. This inspired me to be the best I could be at anything I wanted to be. I am surrounded daily by people who inspire me to set out to accomplish my dreams. These wonderful inspiring people fuels my passion and decision towards becoming a tutor and also give back from my success.

I have covered all the undergraduate level calculus courses, with experience in mathematical reasoning where I proudly made top grades as evidence of my thorough understanding of the courses. It will be a huge privilege to share some of my proven study patterns and concepts to understanding these courses with students towards allaying their fears and improving their level of confidence.

I presently offer mentorship for all new hires at my current assignment to ensure they have a smooth onboarding process and settle in to their respective job roles, thus increasing the efficiency of the instructional center while I have also conducted some process improvement initiatives to identify inefficiencies in our current process and recommended solutions which has resulted in an appreciable 50% improvement in our total turnaround time for new hire training and onboarding process.
