About David

As a first-generation college graduate in my family, I have the utmost desire to help students achieve their academic and career goals through mentorship and tutoring just as I did throughout my education. My best decision in high school, where I graduated top 10 in my class, and at The University of Texas at Austin was to reach out for mentorship. I now work in Houston in the medical center, and I am prepared to provide any guidance I can to help your student succeed and build their confidence in any subject I can assist with.

I excelled in my calculus courses in high school and college, and have an extreme comfortability in teaching math. After 4 years of studying biochemistry and nutrition, I have taken a wide variety of difficult classes such as chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, nutrition, advanced nutritional sciences, international nutrition, nutrition labs, nutrition and genes, vitamins and minerals, and food science.

I also was on the Varsity tennis team all 4 years of high school, played Championship level in the United States Tennis Association, and was a Tennis Instructor for several months for the National Junior Tennis and Learning for the USTA. My patience and understanding has helped me instruct tennis in the past, and I believe I can help students become smarter athletes and better tennis players.

Motivating others is innate to me, and I want to encourage students to be proactive in their studies and challenge themselves. However, I know from personal experience how important it is that students learn how to study smart and feel overwhelmed. Each student has a niche in how they optimize the way they obtain knowledge, and I want to help each student improve those skills for themselves.

I am generally available in the evenings after 5:30pm on the weekdays and between 9-5pm on the weekends. My base rate is $40/hr for in-person and online tutoring.

Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you have! Let's get started on helping you achieve your goals and become the best student you can be!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Calculus

In recent my undergraduate career, I exceeded in Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, and Multivariable Calculus at the University of Texas at Austin. I have tutored math subjects and calculus before and I have critical thinking skills that I'm able to communicate well with any student to help them understand how to solve scenario-based problems or just simple problems.

Nutrition

I recently received my Bachelor of Sciences in Nutritional Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin in May 2015. I excelled in classes such as nutrition labs, food science, advanced nutritional sciences, international nutrition, issues in nutrition, vitamins and minerals, and many others. I have tutored science material before, and I have a passion for nutrition with the patience and understanding to help others succeed in classes.

Tennis

I was on the Varsity tennis team all 4 years of high school and played Championship level for the United States Tennis Association. I also was a Tennis Instructor for the National Junior Tennis and Learning for several months during college. I have been taught by many coaches during my time playing tennis competitively and I am very good with providing instruction with drills to help develop consistency with Tennis.

All around cool guy! — First of all, David is very smart. He's very laid back & is willing to explain WHY and not just how to do something.Without him I wouldn't have made such a good grade on my chemistry exam. He helped me understand why and how to do many things concerning basic chemistry. I recommend him to anyone looking for a chill, smart, and patient tutor! Thanks David! ...
