Not every teacher bonds with every student. That being said, I'm a little confused about this review since the lesson took place at 2:30 in the afternoon. In addition, this was the second lesson with this student. The first lesson took place in the evening and it took me 45 minutes to travel a 22 min ride (according to Google Maps) because it was pouring rain and there was an accident enroute. I did text to let them know I was running late. When I arrived, the student claimed he could not find his SAT practice book that we had discussed. So, back I went out into the rain to get my book from my car. I may have been a little stressed at that moment. Then, I attempted to bond with the young man by discussing his private school experience. We found that one of his teachers was a former colleague of mine. (The second session he indicated that she said "hi"). He scheduled a second session and then canceled a few hours prior to the session and rescheduled. At our second session, he (again) did not have his book, so I had to go out to the car again (once again, in the rain.) In spite of this, I worked cheerfully and diligently with the young man to work through Math problems on which he felt he needed assistance.
When I saw the one star rating, I texted the young man's mom and asked her for the reason for the rating. Instead of responding directly, she posted this review. If she had communicated with me directly, I would have tried to work through the issue and/or voided the lesson and refunded her money.
