I have a degree in Education from University of Houston. I have been a teacher/tutor for three years as well as an HISD Associate teacher (substitute teacher) for grades K-8 specializing in reading comprehension strategies, science and all forms of writing (expository, narrative, creative and more. Additionally, I work with children K-6 on good math practices and specialize in GO MATH.
I am an outstanding English tutor because of my knowledge and love for all things "English/Language Arts," as well as my ability to quickly and accurately assess what a student needs to focus on in their studies with me. I believe that if someone is good or really good at English or writing, I will "fine-tune" them, if you will, to be great writers and to understand the writing process thoroughly from beginning to end.
I believe that learning CAN be fun and I aim for any student I work with to be able to learn a particular process or strategy that works for them and that gives him/her a "lightbulb" moment about a subject. From that point, it my goal to help the student grow and succeed academically as long as I am working with them. I have a degree in Education from University of Houston. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My grandfather was a minister for the Church of Christ (similar in belief and practice to Southern Baptists) for 63 years until his passing at the age of 93. I literally have been studying the Bible, (King James Version) for almost 40 years.
