About Kim

I have been teaching for over twenty plus years. I formerly taught private cello lessons in the Houston Area school districts from 1991-2000. In 2000 I began teaching orchestral strings for 13 years and became certified in early childhood on the elementary level. I have a Masters in Counseling and am seeking to transition to becoming a licensed professional in the field. I am used to working with small and large groups of students. I have also facilitated instructional learning involving theater and drama with students learning and practicing lines.

I am currently teaching private music instruction again along with playing gigs and concerts in performing groups. I have a high regard for education and value the ability to be able to guide students to be successful in being encouraged to apply themselves in developing skills and tools for learning. What I love about tutoring is the opportunity bring confidence and success to having student believe they can accomplish great things.

I have acquired my bachelors and master's degree. Within the dynamics of receiving these educational accomplishments, I have written extensive papers, essays, and projects that have revealed my ability and skills in grammar, reading, and vocabulary. Additionally, I am certified by the state board of education in Texas.

Ever since I was in the spelling bee in elementary I have been an excellent speller. Through out the years I have been aided by the discovery of spell check which has helped me to develop a higher level of being able to spell.

I have been playing the cello for over 40 years and have instructing for approximately 25 years. I have been involved in numerous performing ensembles and groups.

If you desire for someone to lead and guide in instruction and proactive learning, then I'm your tutor.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Cello

I have a Bachelor's degree in applied music with specific emphasis in cello. I taught private cello lessons consistently between 1991-2000 in Klein School District and has currently resumed teaching private instruction again. From 2000-2012, I was the string music instructor and teacher in one of the Houston area school districts.

Elementary (K-6th)

Currently, I hold a teaching certification certificate as an educational Generalist for Pre-K to 4th Grade. In correspondence to certification, I developed qualifications through coursework assignments, classroom observations, and classroom teaching.

Reading

I am a certified teacher in the State of Texas of grades Pre-K to 4th Grade. Additionally, as a music teacher I have taught grade levels up to 12 the grade within an outside city wide school districts. The experience I have in teaching music and certification credentials give me the credibility to guide learning with individuals seeking developmental and learning growth with my offerings as a tutor. An assessment will help determine what you need specifically.

Sewing

I have been learning to sew since I was a young girl. My grandmother, mother, and two aunts all know how to sew. I use to watch my mom sew my outfits as a child and as I grew older I watched my grandmother sew and advance in sewing techniques. She would learn in additional classes such as making a pattern along with knowing how to increase the size of clothing.
I have made a meticulous flower girl dress for a friend's wedding, a sweatshirt, a black dress with circular collar, and a silk purse with a pocket and a pajama top and bottom for donation purposes to a foster child. These are a few sewing items I have made.
Additionally, I can place buttons, zippers, elastic, ribbons, iron-ons, etc. on garments, while being able to do a pattern cut.
