1 on 1 tutoring has always been one of my favorite aspects of traditional teaching and what I feel I do best. I like the quick feedback of seeing a student truly grasp a concept and knowing I've done my job. I also enjoy the challenge of continually having to adjust and find different ways to convey a concept to different students who all have different educational experiences and backgrounds. I have experience teaching internationally as well as locally here in the public school system so I am used to adapting to very diverse students in very diverse settings. I hold a composite science teacher certification for grades 7-12 in the state of Texas, and I also am fluent in Spanish. I spent 2 years teaching in Mexico, as well as have experience teaching specially designed classes here in the USA for new English language learners.
I have a mainly science background, but Math and Science go hand in hand. I firmly believe that everyone can be very successful in math and it is unfortunately one of the biggest reasons people shy away from many of the sciences. Which is why it is very important to me to not only help teach math concepts, but also work to show the bigger picture and how the concept can be applied and instill a self confidence in students to not be afraid of higher math.
I have experience teaching professionally all the major sciences in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Earth Sciences in a high school setting. Science is something I'm passionate about and love having the opportunity to teach as well as learn myself as I'm currently working towards a graduate degree in Geophysics
Please let me know if you are interested in setting up a time. I am can be somewhat flexible on where I can meet with students and am willing to work out something that will work best for the both of us.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
