About Peter

I've just graduated from the Aerospace Engineering program at UT Austin, so all of my scientific and mathematic skills are very fresh and ready to be used! Math and Science classes have always been easy for me: while I was in college I could always count on those classes for A's (rather than the other way around, as is usually common). I've been involved in teaching and leading small groups of young adults (high-school up through college) for nearly 9 years now, and I've worked for three years at a summer camp starting as a counselor.

I've done some minor tutoring in the past for Calculus and SAT Math, but my skills don't end there. I made 5's on the Physics I and II, Calc BC, and Chemistry AP tests, and graduated from UT with a 3.1 GPA. My background in the sciences means I can tutor in anything from elementary to early-middle college Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Calculus. I've been exposed to more advanced math topics including Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and a smattering of Partial Differential Equations and Real Analysis. I have a working knowledge of the MATLAB and Python programming languages, both of which I've used professionally. I made a 169/170 Verbal and 163/170 Quantitative when I took the GRE this past spring, so my math and English skills are both top-notch. While I was in college, all my roommates would ask me to proofread their papers (and I still get asked, to this day, to help my friends out).

I've always been told that I have a knack for teaching: for breaking complex ideas down into digestible pieces and articulating those building blocks intelligibly and effectively. I'm very patient: I can work through and slow things down to make sure that students are really getting a hold of the fundamentals, and then help them rehearse and practice those so we can start picking up the pace as we go on, without losing any knowledge. I can help your student (or you), and I promise you won't regret taking me on!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I've used Algebra so much in all my Engineering classes that it's like a second language that I've achieved complete fluency in.

Algebra 2

I've used Algebra so much in all my Engineering classes that it's like a second language that I've achieved complete fluency in.

Differential Equations

I just graduated from UT Austin with my B.S. in Aerospace Engineering: where I took two courses in Differential Equations, both of which I made B+'s in. The problems I deal with on a daily basis are all differential equations: as such, my knowledge goes beyond the merely theoretical: I have a practical, working knowledge of differential equations.
