About Abimbola

I am a graduate of the University of Houston and Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Chemistry and a Masters degree in Petroleum Engineering respectively. With my educational background, I am able to teach all levels of mathematics from algebra to engineering level mathematics like calculus and differential equations. I can also teach all levels of chemistry as well as chemical and petroleum engineering courses. I am available to teach students of all ages from middle school to college and beyond.

My teaching style is to use real-life examples to explain any complex materials to students. Over the years, I have had many professors with different teaching styles and I plan to incorporate any of these teaching styles to suit the needs of the student.

My teaching experience is mainly in teaching engineering mathematics to college sophomores and juniors but I am open and willing to teach middle and high school students as well if needed. I currently volunteer as a teaching assistant to 5th and 6th graders at my church; therefore I am able to provide real-life examples to improve learning as it relates to this age group.

I have studied mathematics and science in the United States and internationally as well, therefore I am able to provide different approaches to tackling and teaching math and science problems. I like to give my students lots of practice problems to help them improve their knowledge because I believe that practice, practice and more practice definitely improves knowledge. I am very strict and structured so that our time together is used very efficiently. Your success is my success, therefore I will do my best to make sure that you perform extremely well in whichever subject that I tutor you in.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 2

I made fantastic grades in Algebra, calculus, engineering math classes etc. while studying chemical engineering. I have the patience and the passion to pass my math knowledge across.

Calculus

I have a BSC in Chemical Engineering and Masters in Petroleum Engineering. I'm an Adjunct Instructor at HCC. You can see all the various math courses I'm qualified to teach on my profile.

I would really like to see your child succeed in Calculus.

Chemical Engineering

I have a Bsc. in Chemical Engineering from Univ. of Houston. I have continued to assist students in Chemical Engineering as a freelance tutor since my graduation. I have also remained in the academic space as I recently got my Msc. in Petroleum Engineering in spring 2013 and I'm writing my TEXAS Professional Engineering license exam this October 2015.

Differential Equations

I'm qualified to tutor in this area because though I had an A grade in Engineering math in college, and I have tutored some UH engineering students in the past since graduating from UH. Also, my scores on the other math subjects are also a testament of how good my math skills are. All these stems from the fact that I I learnt differential equations and Math under 2 educational systems ( within the USA and outside the USA).
