University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN (Math, Computer Science)
Greetings and thanks for taking the time to visit my profile. I realize that hiring a tutor represents a significant investment of time, trust, and treasure, so I am honored that you are considering me.
I graduated as valedictorian of my high school class with all 'A's. I then went on to college and graduated cum laude with a double major in math and computer science. Following college, I spent 20 years in industry as a computer consultant, real estate agent and now math tutor.
But frankly, my success in high school, college or career has little bearing on your current academic situation because I cannot take the tests for you. What is relevant is my ability to take my successful attitude, approach and study habits and transfer them to you.
My upbeat, can-do attitude is contagious. My one-on-one approach allows me to zoom in on challenge areas and creatively develop keys that open up the doors of understanding. And my study habits are all about repetition - we do the math together until it makes sense and becomes second nature for you.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success in your studies! Greetings and thanks for taking the time to visit my profile. I realize that hiring a tutor represents a significant investment of time, trust, and treasure, so I am honored that you are considering me.

My 13 year old son really clicked with Pete. He didn't "talk down" to my son, who already feels bad about having failing grade in Algebra I. Pete was prompt, friendly...all around a great experience.
Pete did an excellent job with my son Spencer! Exactly what we were looking for and his work and professionalism were exceptional!
I started the year lacking academic confidence and motivation to work, my parents told me my grades were not where they needed to be and I agreed so that is where Pete stepped in. On the FIRST day he detected where I am weak and strong academically and evaluated my individual learning style and conformed the way he taught to that. The way he broke every bit of information down made so much sense to me. We then started to have weekly sessions and my grades sky rocketed. I witnessed my grade in math go from an F to an A within a few weeks. Pete is a great tutor willing to work with you and is lenient with schedule errors. He is always on time and ready to start as soon as he walks in the door but more importantly he has formed a friendship with myself and my family (Which believe me helps the learning process). I would recommend Pete for anyone faltering in academics and every session we have has been 5 out of 5 stars.
Pete was always able to work around my son's busy schedule to help him prepare for tests, is very knowledgeable in algebra 2, and could also help with chemistry when needed,,
Does a great job including a great at presenting new information. Able to breakdown a problem which makes the information easier to understand
Pete had helped my daughter understand algebra better and improve her grade. Pete had helped my son to improve his math .My son also has done better in math as well .
Pete did an amazing job helping my son with geometry. He kept the session interesting, fun, and not boring. He took the time to explain how to solve the problem and use other methods to solve the equation.
I'm the parent of the student and was able to listen to the 2.5 hours of initial engagement and tutoring. Pete is truly patient and very thorough. He engaged my daughter in ways that made her think for herself, answer her own questions and increase her problem-solving skills. No small feat with AP Probability and Stats. He also listened to her visions and dreams for college and her career and began to encourage her and set her on a path to get there. We'll continue to have Pete tutor my daughter, and also perhaps some of my daughter's classmates.
Pete was a wonderful tutor. He was extremely knowledgeable about the subject (in this case, college level Calculus) and was very good at explaining the concepts. What made him outstanding among other tutors is his utilization of the various online resources to bring a more diverse number of resources to session. In doing this he was able to explain Calculus in a manner that the concepts were fully understood, rather than just memorized. I believe that this approach is more beneficial to the student in the long run. It enables the student to garner a complete understanding, rather than develop a short term rote memory that will allow them to just "get by". I highly recommend Pete, for anyone who is looking for a tutor. He is first rate.
Pete was able to identify several areas for my son to focus on and strategies for success all in the first session!
Pete knows a lot about math and explains it in a way I can understand. He's also friendly and good at explaining how to develop good study habits.
Stats, he will find ways to help you understand, and is very patient, and will research and use other materials to help as needed
Pete A. has helped my son take an F to an A- in just a few weeks. He's also helped in other subjects. He has a very positive attitude, and is receptive to my concerns and ideas. My son likes him. He has identified my son's thinking process. Pete is eager to look at any trouble spots in any class. He's punctual and professional. I recommend him highly.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I bring a great deal of problem-solving experience to the table due to my college math degree, consulting career and diverse tutoring experience. In addition, I find that success on college prep exams requires a combination of aptitude, time management, and strategy. I work with the student to identify and shore up their knowledge gaps, increase their time awareness and improve their tactical approach.
I have had strong study skills throughout my educational career. While in college, I tutored students in the math lab across multiple subjects. Since college, I have taught or tutored students in Advanced Placement Calculus, Algebra and Geometry.
One of my college degrees is in Mathematics. While in college, I tutored students in the math lab across multiple subjects. Since college, I have taught or tutored students in Advanced Placement Calculus, Algebra, Honors Algebra, Geometry and Statistics.
Geometry was my favorite in high school. I believe my excitement for the subject becomes contagious. Oftentimes there are multiple ways of looking at the same problem. Once we find the one that works best for you, it's just a matter of repetition until it sticks!
What are the odds? Wanna bet? With a strong math background, these are the types of questions that intrigue me. In addition to thoroughly enjoying my statistics and probability courses in college, I have also informally analyzed the numbers behind (1) horse-racing, (2) blackjack and (3) Texas Hold'em. Therefore, I bring real-life examples to the table when tutoring these subjects.
Due to my college math degree, consulting career and diverse tutoring experience, I bring a broad spectrum of support to the Math SAT. In addition, I find that success on college prep exams requires a combination of aptitude, time management and strategy. I work with the student to identify and shore up their knowledge gaps, increase their time awareness and improve their tactical approach.
I have taken multiple courses in Statistics. My experience here includes tutoring at both the high school AP and advance college degree levels. I thoroughly enjoy this subject because it involves working with actual numbers and solving real-world problems.
