About Michael

I have been a licensed attorney in the State of Texas since May 13, 1983 (recently semi-retired), and have extensive, sophisticated experience in multiple areas (both transactional and dispute resolution) and of the law, including without limitation industrial engineering, procurement and construction Law (in particular, relating to refineries), private international law, environmental law, general business and contract law, probate law and legal investigations. In addition, I have extensive experience and legal research (and non-legal research) and success in the public record that reflects this. In this regard, I have three copyrighted articles, two legal (one published in the Houston Journal of International Law) and one non-legal (my honors thesis from the University of Pennsylvania). In addition, I have successful (both in federal and state courts) motions for summary judgment and appellate briefs (e.g., recently in the Texas 9th Court of Appeals).
In addition to a long, multi-faceted mostly solo career, I have more than five years of experience in non-legal, direct, on-hands operations management experience in charge of multi-million dollar operations in the international shipping business and wholesale meat business (in which I had supervising authority over sixty employees). All in all, I can be reasonably and objectively described as a renaissance professional. As far as tutoring style, I strongly believe that this should be on a case by case basis, depending on the actual task and the actual student. This is my first foray into tutoring.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
