About Zulimar

I have been a tutor for Wyzant in the Houston area for about three years. In my teaching, I relate concepts and theories to real life applications. I also tailor my lesson plan to the student's needs and goals.

About me: I graduated from Yale University with a master's in environmental science in 2014 and I currently work as a hydrologist for a federal agency. During evenings and weekends, I tutor for science courses. I have taken math courses up to differential equations and advanced chemistry courses including organic and analytical chemistry. I was a chemistry tutor (for both general and analytical chemistry courses) in an educational center for a year and apply many of these concepts every day at work. I also have experience as a teaching assistant in various college-level courses, including Introductory Environmental Sciences, Water Resources, Research, and Geology.

I can teach in both English and Spanish.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chemistry

I was a General Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry volunteer tutor at a Chemistry Education Center in college after taking courses in organic and analytical chemistry. I have been a chemistry tutor for more than three years. In addition to teaching and coursework, when I was in graduate school, I performed advanced chemical analyses and worked over 100 hours in a chemistry lab. My current job requires the analysis of chemical data and I apply my knowledge of the subject on a daily basis.

Microsoft Excel

I'm a professional research scientist and I work with Excel and PowerPoint on a regular basis. I have experience manipulating large datasets in Excel and applying a range of formulas and statistics. I have also work with plots and other Excel applications. I have been a math and science tutor since 2011.

Physical Science

My undergraduate and graduate degrees are both in Environmental Science and required a strong physical science background. I took courses in geology, water resources, soil science, advanced chemistry, and physics.

I have also conducted extensive research in hydrology and biogeochemistry.

Amazing tutor

Zulimar taught me so many things by helping a lot with my science homework involving learning about conduction, convection, and radiating heat and she helped me study for an upcoming test. She also helped a lot with my math homework which includes the fact that she taught me about angles and about sides when it comes to triangles and she helped me with finding the area of multiple shapes, so if yo
