About TIllet

As a recent graduate of law school at the young age of 23, and former Vanderbilt graduate, I realize the need for help in one's studies. While attaining my recent degrees, oftentimes there were subjects and concepts that can be better explained in the context of a private session, rather than in a classroom. I have had substantial prior experience tutoring children in reading, often while I was still a child, and a young teenager as a result of being present in after school sessions in church. While growing up, my mother made sure to homeschool me for over a decade, which taught me new and better techniques to properly teach reading and writing. As a result of this, I was able to read by the age of two, by my mother utilizing simple motivational techniques and painstaking detail. My mother has never had any formal teaching training, or anything of the sort, but she was able to relate, and adapt to teach a child, and this is what I hope to bring to you. Thus, I feel as though I can properly help any child, or teenager in the subjects listed on my profile.

Reading, along with a good grasp on the English language, is fundamental in the times we live in, more than ever. With the advent of technology, proofreading may be easier to do within the comfort of your own home, but should still be left to someone who will take the utmost time and care to make sure that a document is presentable to turn in for grading. I also offer proofreading services for term papers, research papers, or simple assignments if needs be. Again, at Vanderbilt, I corrected a number of my friends' papers for grammar, and I still correct and proofread papers to this day for relatives, friends, or associates in graduate school. I was also an associate writer on the Journal of Dispute Resolution while in law school. If you, a son or daughter, relative, friend, and distant friend needs this service, I will happy to provide.

Also, though it has honestly been a while since I reviewed ACT concepts, I did receive a score of 35 out of a possible 36 on Reading, and a 29 on English. I am confident I would be able to tutor on these concepts as a result of my recent studies, and I would be glad to provide that service as well.

All Best,

Tillet

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

I received a 29 in the English section of the ACT on the first time taking the test.

ACT Reading

I received a 35 on the reading section of the ACT on my first time taking the test.

Criminal Justice

I am a graduate from University of Missouri-Columbia school of law, as of May 2014. During the summer of 2013, I also worked for the Assistant Federal Public Defender of Missouri.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have tutored children K-6th as a result of being the Director of Youth Services for a charity based out of Saint Louis. We tutored in afterschool programs throughout churches in Saint Louis, as well as offering private tutoring. Additionally, I spearheaded a program entitled Connecting to Bordeaux while in college, a program dedicating to tutoring students from this specific age group in Nashville, TN, while at Vanderbilt University.

Reading

I have been reading since the age of 2, as a result of my mother's homeschooling. I have taught numerous children to read over the years, including students with developmental difficulties. These children have been various ages, but mostly between the ages of 5-13.

Writing

I am a former associate of the Journal of Dispute Resolution while enrolled in law school at the University of Missouri. While on the journal, I was tasked with correcting and proofreading papers. On an informal level, I have corrected papers for my family and friends for years.
