About Bryan

First of all I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a mechanical engineering degree, and a minor in business and mathematics. Upon graduation I accepted a job offer to work at a local engineering company where I currently work as an engineer designing new equipment. Math has always been one of my strongest subjects at school and I consistently scored well on all of my tests throughout my time as a student. I would usually spend time after class helping others learn the material to help them pass the class. This would help me to further reinforce my understanding of the material. I enjoy working with kids and hope to pass on what I've learned during my schooling to help them in their studies.

I have tutored for hundreds of hours and have tutored kids in all levels of mathematics from elementary school all the way to sophomore in college. I tutored in an after school program at an elementary school here in Houston. I tutored about 6 kids in a group and helped them complete there homework by the end of every weekday. I have also tutored several children in Calculus and one student in Calculus III. I have also tutored one child in Physics, and have tutored several children in both Geometry and Algebra. I am a positive person and I try to bring a positive understanding attitude when I'm tutoring. I am currently looking to tutor students after work in mathematics from elementary school up to Senior level high school students, and even lower level college mathematics. I can also tutor in physics as well.

My concept on tutoring is to show them how to work the problems first by giving several examples completely worked out. Then I like to give them some sample problems, or let them work on the homework, to see if they understand and let them try and solve it on their own. If they are unable to do it I gladly assist them through the problem, but I try not to finish it for them. I like to give lots of problems because the best way to learn in my opinion is by doing and seeing every type of problem that could be on a test so they aren't stumped when the test comes. If the teacher already gives alot of homework problems however I try not to give more problems since it would take a lot of time just to complete the homework. I also try to only go over problems that could be on a test to make the time spent tutoring more efficient. I also don't like to waste time during the first session when I am tutoring and I like getting some sample problems to know exactly what the student is having trouble with so I know exactly what I need to concentrate on when I'm tutoring.

Please let me know of you'd be interested in my services and I look forward to setting up a lesson with you!

Thank You

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Calculus

During my time at Texas A and M University in College Station I took several high level math courses and obtained my Math Minor. The math courses I took included Calculus I, II, and III, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, and Advanced Engineering Mathematics. I did well in all of these subjects, and feel I have a very good understanding of them.

Golf

I've played golf since I was 6 and learned from my Dad. And have taught myself from watching instructional videos as well. I am definitely an avid golfer and played for several years in high school. I think what helps someone become a good golfer is persistence. Its also important to video tape them swinging so you can show them in slow motion what they are doing wrong. The best way to correct a swing is to have them over correct, and focus on one thing at a time. Then once they have it down you can move onto the next thing. It also just takes lots of practice, that how Ben Hogan did it.

Mechanical Engineering

I went to Texas A&M University in College Station for my Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering, and graduated in May 2012. I never failed a class, and felt confident in all of my classes during my time there. While taking those classes I helped explain class concepts to others who were failing behind, or weren't completely understanding some subjects.

Prealgebra

Took prealgebra growing up and made an A+ when I completed the course. This subject was never difficult for me. I've used it all throughout college as well to solve much more difficult problems. I understand this subject completely.

Excellent Tutor & Highly Recommended! — Bryan taught me college Calculus 2 and immediately jumped in to solving and teaching complex problems when no one else could. He has a strong math background, along with the ability to communicate formulas that are easy to understand and remember. Thanks, Bryan!! ...
