University of Houston (Mechanical Engineering Technology)
I am a college sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering. I am proficient in relating to kids, as I have been a camp counselor, teaching assistant, and mentor, I was a PAL member in high school as well. I was a private tutor my junior and senior year of high school, that experience has helped me grow in teaching information and tutoring, especially when they aren't as interested in the subject. Having that friendship with the student, is essential because it removes the tension that they might feel in the classroom, and allows them to have a more open approach to the subject at hand.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
