Before being a teacher of English I was a language learner of English. I love teaching English and have developed a passion working with people. I love to see students make progress in learning and I would like to be part of the cause to make them succeed.
My salient teaching experience of writing included the years of teaching Rhetoric & Composition at the University of Texas-Pan American where I earned my Master's degree. I was teaching college writing there in the first year as a Teaching Assistant and the second year as a full time lecturer in 2010-2011.
My full time teaching at Language and Culture Center (LCC) at the University of Houston in summer 2013 is another valuable teaching experience that I have. I was teaching grammar and writing to pre-intermediate level of ESL students with large diverse of language and culture backgrounds.
One of my teaching goals is to observe, give students attention and offer assistance as much as I think they would need. Sometimes students are too shy to raise their hand to ask questions. I also grasp their learning style and experiment different learning strategies to maximize their learning potentials. I am very patient with students and very devoted to pushing them closer to the goal as soon as I see their desire to succeed. I am proud to say I can motivate students very well by my dedication in teaching.
I am currently a doctoral student in Teaching, Design and Technology in College of Education, University of Houston. My F1 visa status does not allow me to have a full part time teaching job during the main semester (since I am a full time student and am receiving assistanceship from College of Education). However, I do love teaching and this is the reason why I am looking for a tutoring job.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
