University of Houston (Computer Science)
Hello, my name is Robert. I've studied Computer Science at the University of Houston. You may ask why would you tutor? Well it all started when I was working as a substitute at a high school in Houston. Students would always be amazed to know that my favorite subject was calculus specifically and Math generally. "Solving Math is like a hobby" I used to say. After giving some classes on material already explained by their teacher I discovered the weak points. It turned out, as I explained to the students, that they have been taught that Math is a hard subject to pass. They have never been taught Math the simple way. Long story short, humans by nature fear the unknown and that's the reason most high school students fear Math. Trust me, Math is the coolest subject you can learn! It's fun once it starts to make sense for you. In the end, everything in life is based on Math.
About my experience, I have taught high school students here in the United States subjects starting from precalculus to calculus II. I have made A's in my calculus courses. I have also taught younger students from middle schools here in Houston. I have the passion to teach Math the way I learned it, so basic and simple.
About US History/PoliSci, I have learned those in my first year at college here at Houston. They were made very hard for us, honestly, by our university professors. We had to read extra material in addition to the course main book. Now when I look back I realize that this was a blessing. I earned A's and B+ in all those courses where to get an A you needed 94+ and a B+ was 90+.
Programming courses were my main strength at university. Programming is really easy once you catch up on the basics. It all builds up once you attain the little building blocks of any program. I have coded in C++ , Java, MIPS, SQL and several other languages but not as heavily. I also worked as an IT consultant at a law firm where we had to rebuild the database over six months using SQL. I am confident I can help with computer science programming courses.
Last but not least you can try me and if you like my tutoring we can continue all the way till you achieve your goals. If not, it would be an honor to get to know you. Either way there is nothing to lose! I'm waiting for your contact! Hello, my name is Robert. I've studied Computer Science at the University of Houston. You may ask why would you tutor? I was struggling in my java course right before finals and I couldn’t find anyone to help me at school. I did some outside research and found Robert. Not only was he able to help me in my Java but also with a couple problems in calculus. He knew all his subjects and made sure when you work something out that you actually understand how he got from here to there. He was also kind enough to schedule me last minute when everyone needed help for finals.
Robert is a true programmer! He definitely knows the in & outs and makes the program seem simple. He helped me get a project done very quickly. I will definitely be contacting him for additional help.
He helped me prepare for the calculus clep and was very in-depth with his teachings. This is a guy who knows what he's talking about! He's very patient and able to explain the lesson in a way that's really clear and easy to understand. He works with your schedule not the other way around and is just an overall fantastic tutor!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
In the ACT Mathematics Test, three subscores are based on six content areas: pre-algebra, elementary algebra, intermediate algebra, coordinate geometry, plane geometry, and trigonometry. I have aced Algebra and Geometry since intermediate school. I have taught those subjects over and over again. Trigonometry is greatly related to Geometry and is another subject I aced. I can guarantee that you won't be but pleased by my Math tutoring.
As mentioned in the ACT Math qualifications, I have aced Algebra since intermediate school, I have taught this subject since a long time and I had to utilize my Algebra and Calculus skills in my programming. I feel confident of tackling any Algebra problem. I can guarantee you satisfaction.
I studied American History at the University of Houston in two semesters with an amazing professor who would give you an A if you score 93 or more. I got an A on both. They were really hard as you had to read the book, notes and extracurricular articles but now I can confidently assure you that I can help you a lot in that area.
I have lived for more than 15 years in Lebanon where Arabic is the native language. I've studied in school there from 1st grade till 12th grade which of course includes studying Arabic comprehension, grammar and vocabulary. I think I can teach Arabic pretty well.
I have studied C++ at college level in Programming courses I and II. I have also studied c++ in the data structures course. I have written programs in C++ up to 500 lines. I think I'm ready to tutor this subject.
