About Valerie

I was educated, trained, and earned the degree of Medical Doctor, MD, but due to a disabling disease, I am unable to practice. I have raised two sons to college and high school age, and home-schooled them since third grade. I have also taught at Home Education Partnership as an Human Anatomy and Physiology Teacher and Medical Careers teacher.

Additionally, I have private tutored students in my home ranging from 1st grade to college students including all sciences and math levels below calculus, English composition, grammar, reading, and have extensively edited papers for high school and college classes. I also work with students preparing for the PSAT/SAT or the SAT. I have had students with learning disabilities including ADHD, ADD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, Irlen's syndrome, and overall global learning deficits. I have many references from both students and their parents.

I would love to work with you or with your child to teach them math, science, or English or to help prepare them for the PSAT/SAT and ACT.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Anatomy

I attended medical school and received my degree as a physician and as such have spent many hours studying anatomy and physiology. Biology

I have taught and tutored biology for junior high, high school, and home school students. I am trained as a physician so have extensive background in biology in the high school, college, and professional degree levels.

Chemistry was my favorite subject in high school and I received a minor in Chemistry in college while graduating with honors, ultimately going on to medical school and earning the degree of MD.
