I am a former classroom instructor and tutor for a major test prep provider. I have taught and tutored the ACT, SAT, GMAT and GRE for more than 15 years. I have been consistently successful in establishing very close rapport with the students, and they consistently rate me very highly. Comments often focus on my caring about the students' success, my accessibility outside class and my ability to make the test less daunting to them. I am a very strong proponent of learning the processes that produce solutions. In a tutoring role I focus on the areas that have the greatest potential payback for the test taker in terms of a higher score. I use the Socaratic approach in that environment. I am open, forthright, friendly, respectful and have a wry sense of humor.
I am also an adjunct faculty member at University of Houston, where I also have received excellent evaluations from my students. Again, their comments focus on my concern for their success, my accessibility and my skill at making difficult topics more understandable. I am known to them as a mentor and many seek my opinion on topics related to their careers and education.
I would be delighted to help you prepare to conquer either the GRE or the GMAT! I am a former classroom instructor and tutor for a major test prep provider. I have taught and tutored the ACT, SAT, GMAT and GRE for more than 15

James is excellent in inspiring his students in thinking of ways and strategies that you have never thought of. He understands how you might deal with a problem on the GMAT, and he will simplify your method by a step or two.
I really appreciated the things we went over. Not only did I get a refresher on certain math concepts, but I also learned a few strategic methods for question answering.
James was very patient with my son, and taught him other ways to learn Math, since everyone learns in different ways. He asked me a lot of questions in regards to my son, and contacted his teacher before our first lesson. My son really liked him a lot, and is already his favorite tutor! I am so relieved I have found James.
James has been my GMAT tutor for over a month now, and I can honestly say that he is an excellent teacher! He does a great job breaking down the exam material and explaining it in a way where you can easily understand. He has a positive attitude, and his passion for teaching is evident. One of the things that I like most about James is that he never makes you feel dumb or incompetent. His words are always encouraging and he motivates you to excel. If you're looking for a GMAT tutor who is going to challenge, encourage, and prepare you, then James is the guy for you!!!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
