I have been an elementary school teacher for 43 years, first at the American Community School, in Argentina, then at Houston Independent School District.I have worked with children in first, second, third and fourth grade. Argentina is my native home but I was taught in Anglo-Argentine Schools and I spoke both languages in my home. I am now retired. Now I tutor children in Spanish, as well as helping them with their homework and preparing for Tests. I also have taught adults in English. I prefer to tutor at the student's house, one on one. I have also taught a beginning English class for the immigration class.
I specialize in Reading and Language Arts. I enjoy working both in Spanish and in English, and have extensive practice teaching students that experience problems in the classroom. I am patient and understanding and I love my work. Ms. Susana is an excellent and very patient tutor, we have seen great improvements in my daughter’s reading skills in just 3 weeks. My kid looks forward to seeing her every week which tells me that she makes learning fun and exciting. I would definitely recommend her to anyone.
Ms Susana taught ELA to my boys who are in third and first grade. She helped the boys become more confident readers. Both the boys have improved in their writing and verbal communication. They always look forward to their lessons as Ms Susana always brings interesting books for them to read.
Susana showed patience and knowledge. She made a connection with my son and seemed fun and caring yet firm. A great fit for my son.
Susana is very pleasant and has helped my son a lot already. She is very easy for him to work with and he enjoys the lessons. My son has already raised his grade greatly in the short amount of time they have been working together.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
