Originally we sought out a tutor for my son as he was struggling with his school work in general. Lacking the confidence to complete his work, he began not doing it altogether. Cynthia has been instrumental in getting him back on track and helping him to have the confidence to keep trying. The extra one-on-one time, and having the opportunity to hear skills explained in a different way has improved his comprehension across the board, but especially in math. She has helped by pointing out ways that he can check himself, improve his organization, and practice the skills needed for mastery. His grades have improved dramatically, but more importantly...so has his confidence. After such a rough start to the year, (on top of years of struggling) hearing him tell me, "Mom, guess what! I'm one of the smart kids!" is priceless. He has surprised himself. I'm forever grateful for Cynthia's time and patience in helping him to get to this point. We will continue these lessons, as I believe that this time is essential for him to have a safe place to ask questions and have the individual attention and explanation of new concepts, along with the helpful organization and study skill reminders. Thank you, Cynthia!
Thank you, Brandy, for such a touching testimonial. It has been a fun and interesting journey that I have enjoyed sharing with your son. His intelligence is beyond belief and I love that he definitely thinks "outside of the box"! I'm so excited to learn that he is gaining confidence and realizing his potential. He has so much to offer and I want him to feel empowered to voice his thoughts and contribute in class. I am eager to see where his mind will take him with his newly found confidence and belief that he is capable of anything!

Thank you Nicole for the recommendation. I knew we had made infinite progress the morning I received your text with the picture of him holding his certificate and that beaming smile of accomplishment on his face! He is incredibly observant and curious. I love watching the seed we have planted beginning to set roots and grow. As his confidence builds, I can't wait to see where he will go in his quest for knowledge!

Thank you Rosa, for allowing me this opportunity to assist your daughter. I love seeing the change that has come over her in just the short amount of time we have been working together. You are very welcome, Maria. It is such a joy to work with your son. I admire his willingness to improve his knowledge in all areas. He has such a great love of reading that is wonderful to see in any student, and like me, he laughs out loud at the funny parts in books! I encourage him to keep up the hard work and he will see continued success in all his classes.
Mrs. Cynthia was great help. She showed me a strategy to help me improve my comprehension level. So far, it has been very helpful. She also proofread my research paper and found incorrect subject and verb agreement in it. All of the strategies and input that was given to me I used it in studying for upcoming exams. Mrs. Cynthia has excellent teaching skills and I was able to understand her teaching style.
Thank you, Shannon. I admire your perseverance and commitment towards getting your degree. I know the struggles you are experiencing will only serve to make you more compassionate and understanding as you work to help others. You are doing an amazing job!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
