My name is Ryan and I am a math teacher at Clear Brook High School. I have taught math for 5 years, and have tutored many high school and college level math students. I actually tutor math daily to all the kids who end up in ISS, or in school suspension at Brook. I have taught Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, AP Stats, and Pre-Calculus. I also coach volleyball and baseball, because I enjoy seeing the success that students can have while playing sports that they love. I love to teach, and I love math!
As a teacher, I like to use technology as much as possible. I can use multiple programs and methods to help illustrate concepts. I have had a lot of success working with students because I am organized and work one on one with all of my students. I feel like I am more able to help them when I can find out more about their learning style. Every learner is different! It takes communication and a relaxed atmosphere that opens up the mind for successful learning. I promise that I will do everything that I can to create a positive learning atmosphere and do all that I can to reach the math success that we both want! Hello!

I can't say enough good things about Ryan. After reading many Wyzant reviews, I came across Ryan's profile and I have had to look no further. He's wonderful - very professional, responsive to emails, calls and texts, is pleasant, arrives/meets on-time and is conscientious in fulfilling the time periods we pay for! Although I appreciate the former attributes, the most important aspect to me is that he can explain the material well and can relate well to my son, who is a senior. He does both extremely well.
Ryan is tutoring my son in both pre-cal and for the SAT Math Portion -- his grades have shot up and I've no doubt his SAT scores will too. As a matter of fact, my son told me that he wants to continue tutoring with Ryan (even after he takes the SAT this Saturday) because he likes him so much and believes he can get a good solid base going into college, and believe me, that's not like my son at all!
Now mind you, we have tried many tutoring organizations in the Clear Lake/League City/Webster/Friendswood area and I can honestly say not one of them ($$$$ later...ughhh) have helped my son learn and retain he material as quickly and thoroughly. Truly, if you are in any of the above areas, look no further.
Also, please know if I didn't touch on a topic applicable to you and you'd like for me to provide a personal referral, I'm happy to do so. We have already referred him to many friends. It's HARD to find a great tutor and I found one!!
My daughter had a great learning experience with Ryan. She felt more confident after working with him. Thank you Ryan!
Ryan is a great tutor, very patient, energetic, and detailed. This is our first tutoring experience and Ryan did a great job. Our son said Ryan refreshes his memory of the Pre Calculus concepts and he is now confident to take the final exam. Thanks a lot!
My 9th grade daughter has been struggling in pre-AP Algebra and Ryan D. has been a lifesaver! Ryan was very thorough and determined what my daughter needed specific help with. His explanations made it easy for my daughter to understand. She made a 93 on her 9 weeks test after a tutoring session. He's been flexible about working around my daughter's testing schedule.
Ryan has been tutoring my daughter for several weeks and she loves working with him. It is great to have lessons reviewed and difficult concepts taught by such a qualified and enthusiastic teacher! He is also flexible with our ever changing schedule which is a bonus. I cannot say enough good things about Ryan and I highly recommend him!!
This was my first time working with a tutor therefore, I did not know what to expect however, Ryan came in and exceeded all of my preconceived notions. His profile is a true depiction of his personality and his coaching background made him a perfect fit for my sports minded son. Ryan was very friendly and accommodating, his initial assessment left a feeling of confident with my son about the math skills he does have and he reassured him that he is smart enough to learning and master more math skills. I'm excited about Ryan's ability to help my son succeed in algebra and collage level math. He was knowledgeable, kind and encouraging.
Ryan is everything we could ask for in a tutor. He is tutoring my son in pre-ap Geometry. My son was really struggling to stay caught up with the class due to loss of class time. He was not testing well and was very frustrated. In the first tutoring session I knew Ryan was the answer for us. Ryan is very knowledgeable and has the skills to teach the subject matter. But, more than that, he brings an enthusiasm that makes even a geometry lesson very, very enjoyable. My son was smiling almost the entire lesson and for an hour after. His next quiz he scored 100%. I can't say enough about Ryan. I would highly recommend.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Testing in math has always been one of my strong points. I got a 31 on my own ACT math test. To be a teacher, I had to take the Praxis II exam, on which I scored in the top 15%. On the GRE, the test I needed to take for my masters, I nearly scored perfect. If you give me a chance, I know that I can help your child find ways to get a better score on their tests. Please consider me for the job!
What a fun time that Algebra is in the life of a teenager! I remember taking it in junior high. I was so scared because all I heard about it was how hard it was. I had one of my most influential teachers that year, and I grew to love math. I now teach math, largely thanks to my Algebra 1 teacher. I promise that I can have the same affect on your child, so please consider me for the tutoring position! I have taught Algebra for multiple years, and I love it! Math is so important in life, for many reasons, and Algebra is the beginning.
Algebra 2 is so important to understand, because so much builds on it later in the schooling years. I can help build the student up for not only success in this year, but in the years to come. Please consider me to help out during this critical year in your education!
I am the JV Baseball coach at Clear Brook High School in Friendswood, TX. I have coached for two years.
I have taught Geometry for three years at Clear Brook. I believe in a straight forward approach that helps the student to recognize what needs to be solved, and then helps them to solve the problem. I can also help with the algebra that will be a part of the geometry. Geometry is one of my favorite subjects, and is so useful and practical for real life scenarios! Please consider me and I know that I will be able to help your child understand and appreciate math. I will also make learning fun!
Whether you are in junior high or high school, Pre Algebra is important. It gives you the understanding that will be built on throughout your high school and college career. I have taught algebra long enough to know how to help your student and prepare them for what comes next! Please consider me!
Precalculus is one of the coolest classes! I had the best teacher when I took it in high school, and I have loved it ever since. I taught it 5 years ago, but since moved here to Texas and was never given the chance to teach it, due to seniority. I teach at Clear Brook, where I have taught Algebra 1 and Geometry, AP Stats, and now PLTW or Engineering classes. I know that I can help your child to appreciate math, and even help turn math into one of their favorite subjects. Please consider me for the tutoring position! I know that I can help!
I have tutored so many kids while being a math teacher. I also have tutored college kids as well, while I was in college. I have taken, and scored high on, many major tests, like: the ACT, SAT, GRE, and the Praxis. I have also taken the math teaching certification exams. I have prepared for all these tests, and know how to help you prepare for your test. Please consider me! I know how to help, and to make learning fun!
In college, I majored in math education and was two classes away from minoring in Spanish Education. I lived in Argentina for two years, and I loved it! I can read, write, speak and perform translation services in Spanish. Please consider me for any tutoring. I won't let you down!
