In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
In the public schools I've often had students in the spectrum of ADD/ADHD. I have taken many workshops and inservices on the subject. I also have done some personal research when a relative was diagnosed. I've read many of the books on the subject and even participated in a support group with a lecture format covering trends and research on the topic.

I've taught science in middle and elementary school throughout the Houston area. I've also presented hands on fun labs for school enrichment classes, summer camp and remedial work.
I have recently been an adjunct at the North American University here in Houston. I will occasionally have work as a teacher in their Intensive English Program. I also have taught English for two summers in Beijing, China, preparing high schoolers for a school year in America.
I have been a title one reading specialist in the Houston ISD, although the schools themselves are closed. I have been tutoring early reading for the last three years. I am 1-8 certified for all Texas schools. I have also completed additional course work and independent study on learning differences such as ADD/ADHD.
