About Jon-Michael

I graduated Magnum Cum Laude from Houston Baptist University in December 2011 with a Philosophy Major and Minor in Theology.

As of March 2015, I am highly qualified according to the Texas Education Agency in Mathematics grades 4-8. In 2015-16 I worked as a public school 6th grade math teacher for Gifted and Talented students.

I have had over two years of tutoring experience in my college career. I spent one year doing after school tutoring and summer school program for fifth graders. I spent one year as a private tutor for a special needs high school student.

For the past four years, I have worked closely with a professional editor in preparing a series of academic books for publication.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I taught 6th grade math at an Intermediate School. I have a probationary teaching certificate. I spent a year working with 5th grade students in an afterschool program and a summer education program.

I recently passed the state exam certifying that I am highly qualified in the subject areas of 4-8 grade mathematics. I am in the process of acquiring my certificate to teach middle school math.
