My name is Channa, I have been a classroom teacher for the past 20 years and have loved every moment of it. I completed my undergraduate studies at Sam Houston State University and my masters degree at Nova Southeastern University both in education. I am employed as a full time teacher in Klein ISD. I have taught Kinder, 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th grades. My passion is creating life long learners while being sensitive to the diversity in every child by using a hands on approach. Each child is unique, and as a teacher I meet their individual needs while focusing on creating a love for learning. We have fun in my classroom, playing educational games and participating in all types of plays. I build lasting relationships with my students by being there for them when they are in need of a helping hand, extra help, or a shoulder to lean on.
I am also a certified dyslexia tutor and have the materials to help any dyslexic student become successful in all academic areas.
I am the proud parent of a daughter who will a senior next year at Klein Oak. She keeps me busy with competitive cheer and school cheer. Hi,

If you are interested in multiple hour lessons, I will be more than happy to work with you. Also, if you have more than one child needing tutoring, I will also work a deal with you.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have received extensive training through the school district I currently teach in. I pull small groups throughout the day to do dyslexia lessons with. It is called DIP instruction.
I currently hold a Texas Teachers Certificate that is for Elementary Self-Contained 1-8. It is valid for lifetime. I have been a classroom teacher for the past 20 years, all of which have been at the elementary level. I hold a Master's Degree is Education as well.
I have taught elementary math for the past 20 years. 9 of the years have been in a TAKS/STAAR grade. During this time, all of my students have passed the math section of the state test.
I have taught elementary school for the past 17 years. I have been trained in many phonics programs, one being Saxon. I have taught 1st and 2nd grades for many of the 20 years and used a phonics based reading program. I hold a Texas Teaching Certificate that is Elementary Self-Contained - Lifetime Certificate. I am also certified to teach a Dyslexia Intervention Program.
I have taught both resource and self contained special education in the past. My classroom is the inclusion classroom, which means all second grade special needs students who receive inclusion time come and participate with my class during a lesson. I have taught special education at a school that was dedicated to special education only. The students who attended the school were not able to function in a regular school setting; therefore, they were placed in the Carlton Center.
Study Skills is a major part of being successful in the classroom. I have attended many hands on trainings to help the students retain information given to them. One of them being a training held by Dinh Zikes, the queen of Foldable in the Classroom.
I have taught fifth grade for a year and fourth grade self contained (all subjects) for the 8 years. In 8 years I have had 100% pass the writing STAAR/TAKS.
