Hello, everyone! I have been a tutor on WyzAnt for seven years, and I was also employed for two years as tutor for high school students at a school district (one year overlapped where I worked for both WyzAnt and the school district). Currently, I specialize in pre-nursing classes, including Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2, Microbiology, and General Chemistry 1 (or Introductory Chemistry). In addition, throughout my time as a tutor for WyzAnt, I have helped pre-nursing students with the nursing entrance exams: the HESI A2 and the ATI TEAS. I have personally taken the ATI TEAS test and especially the HESI A2 (so I definitely know what's expected of these tests)! (Please refer to my subject descriptions for the TEAS to see more details). I also gained medical experience via taking an EMT-Basic class in 2014; my volunteer experience as an EMT helps provide real-life applications of anatomy and physiology.
I also have tutored dozens of students in general undergraduate courses such as Composition 1 and 2, College Algebra, and General Biology.
I still am more than willing to help high school students in a wide range of subjects including anatomy and physiology for high school, microbiology for high school, biology (Pre-AP/Honors and non-honors), chemistry (Pre-AP/Honors and non-honors), Algebra 1 (Pre-AP/Honors and non-honors), Geometry (Pre-AP/Honors and non-honors), Algebra 2 (Pre-AP/Honors and non-honors), and English I-IV (Pre-AP for English I and 2 and advanced for English III and IV).

I graduated from University of Houston Victoria with a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice. I had planned on using my bachelor's degree to get into a second-degree BSN program (which is why I have experience in pre-nursing courses and nursing entrance exams). However, I decided that the first responder/EMT field was my true calling. I want to help students using my experiences with the TEAS and HESI A2 and pre-nursing courses to help them achieve their dreams of nursing school.

I prefer working with individual students, because I ca

I took Pre-AP English I and II from a top Fort Bend school and made A's in English for all four years of high school English. Throughout those four years, especially my junior and senior year, I helped many of my classmates during the research and writing process. I've also taken English in college and made A's. At my professional job at F.B.I.S.D., I tutor in all four levels of English, including Pre-AP and AP English. I love to edit, revise, and review papers constructively to improve grammar, vocabulary, flow, organization, and structure. This is one of the subjects I love to tutor in because it's exciting and interesting to read the styles of each individual and to help them write and analyze a beautiful paper.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have tutored high school students in Algebra 1 for four years! I earned A's in Algebra 1 in high school and consistently helped my friends obtain A's on tests by helping explain concepts to them. I believe Algebra 1 is the best math subject I can tutor, since I believe I have mastered it fully through both my experience as a tutor and my rigorous coursework during high school.
Biology,

Biology

During high school when I first took Biology, I absolutely adored the class and learning everything about the biological world around me. My classmates often sought my help because of my thorough understanding of the material and I was glad to help them. I finished the class with a high "A". When I entered college and took General Biology, I enjoyed learning even more about the subject. I finished my General Biology I class also with an "A". I have such a passion for Biology- I understand it in detail and I love learning new things about it every single day. I teach many students in Biology and I enjoy drawing diagrams, giving lots of examples, and having a little fun while I'm teaching it to them.
Chemistry,

Chemistry

Chemistry is another fascinating subject to me and I have always enjoyed the Chemistry courses I have taken in high school and college. I thoroughly enjoy tutoring my students all levels of chemistry from elementary school science to General Chemistry I.

Easy to understand

Leah helped my daughter with Chemistry in a way that was easy for my daughter to understand. Daughter has had other teachers try to teach her the exact lesson in the past and she wasn't getting it. She had a practice test today in class and got 100%!

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

I am currently studying to pass the teas test, Leah has been very helpful in showing me what I need to know in a quick patient way. She uses mnemonics to make stuff easy to remember. I highly recommend.

Very clear lessons and is a very patient tutor

we discussed subject-verb agreement, pronoun-antecedent agreement, adjectives, adverbs, and misplaced modifiers. We also discussed passive vs active voice. Leah has really helped to clear up some things that were foggy to me. I really appreciate the practice homework too.

Leah Is The Answer!!

Leah is absolutely an amazing tutor. She is very knowledgeable and her lessons plans are well researched. She even sends notes taken, a recap and study material after the lesson. I knew Leah was awesome because she was able to quickly identify my son's learning style during that 1st lesson. My son was struggling with Physiology this year. He shared with me that after a few lessons with Leah he understood the material and felt confident enough to engage in classroom discussions. His teacher also mentioned she noticed the difference. Now, let's talk actual results. After 2 lessons my son earned a B on his quiz. With a few more lessons, he was earning A's on chapter tests. In just 2 months (3 1hr sessions per week) his grade in the class went up 2 full letter grades. That's quite an accomplishment for a student who has struggled with science for four years. She made the difference! She's so great we've added additional subjects to his tutoring plan. She's also keeping him challenged this summer too! Next year, he will take Physics. Although she doesn't tutor that subject, she helped me identify tutors that will fit his learning style. I would recommend her for any of the subjects she tutors and test preparation.

Knowledgeable and very thorough

Based on my prior TEAS score Leah is starting at the beginning and breaking down pre-algebra for me. Math is not a strong point for me so she made it so easy and clear to understand. Very organized and very sweet. I am very happy with the choice I made.

Awesome Tutor for Nursing

Leah was so helpful when it came to helping me raise my anatomy and physiology HESI exam grade! I went from a 60% to a 94%!! After having about 6 sessions with her she prepared me so well for the HESI, and I know I will use the knowledge she gave me throughout my future as nurse!
