Hello! ¡Hola! Zdravstvujte!
My name is Robert, and I teach Spanish, Russian, and English as a second language (ESL). My passion for teaching foreign languages comes from the personal experiences that I've had while learning them. I'm conversationally proficient in Dutch, French, German, and working-level proficient in Spanish and Russian.
During my time studying abroad, I gained a new understanding of the various pedagogic systems which are used to teach foreign languages around the world. I have attended La Salle high school in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and became a registered student of the Russian Federation in 2014 when I enrolled in a summer program at St. Petersburg State University. I returned to St. Petersburg State University in the spring of 2015 to spend four months taking courses in Russian literature, civilization, and language.
In Russia, I worked as an advanced English conversation teacher and helped students to increase their vocabulary and use of the English language while gaining a better understanding of the cultural similarities and differences between Russian and the United States. I have tutored Spanish in both high school and college, and worked as a private Spanish interpreter. I specialize in teaching beginners with zero knowledge of Spanish and intermediate students who would like to improve their conversation and grammar skills. For Russian, I prefer absolute beginners up to students at a lower intermediate level.
I'm a very patient and open teacher, and I will work with you to find a learning method that will allow you to quickly make progress. Currently, I am entering my third year of study at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. I will be available to teach in Houston from mid-May until late August, when the fall semester begins. I prefer to teach sessions that last a minimum of an hour and a half.
Please contact me with any questions or inquiries that you may have, and I look forward to working with you! Hello! ¡Hola! Zdravstvujte!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I am a registered student of the Russian Federation and for the past three months have been attending classes at St. Petersburg State University in St. Petersburg, Russia. All of my classes are conducted in Russian. This is my second time studying in Russia, as I spent the summer of 2014 at a different campus of St. Petersburg State University than the one at which I am currently studying. I have experience tutoring Russian to college-level students.
I have tutored and taught Spanish for 4 years, and I worked as a private Spanish interpreter during the summer of 2014. I love teaching Spanish, as I believe it's a critical language in today's world of growing economies in Spanish-speaking countries.
