Because Houston is an international city, I have had the joy and privilege of helping many new adult and student residents improve their English speaking and grammar, as well as assisting them with high school and college essay and business writing. All of my students, native English speakers and international students, tell me they are pleased with their progress in my speaking and writing coaching as you can see on my student feedback submissions.

I have been both a public and private school teacher, and a marketing director for a large medical practice. As a marketing director for a large medical practice, I wrote patient interest articles for magazines and websites. Additionally, another main area of expertise is helping students with essay writing, grammar, editing and proofreading.

We can set up goals and objectives for you on our first visit. Some of my recent tutoring has involved helping the student to write well-formatted and edited sentences, paragraphs and reports. My last WyzAnt student made an A+ on her college manuscript.

If it's study skills, improving your grammar and speaking, or helping you edit your reports and essays, I am available, and I look forward to hearing from you. In addition to a degree in English from the University of Houston, I am ESL certified, and have certifications with Wyzant in English, Bible studies, grammar, phonics, proofreading, SAT Writing, spelling, study skills, and vocabulary.

Happy Learning!

As a former 5th grade teacher, I know that good study/observation habits are the basis of success in everything we do. "Paying attention" is most of the battle in acquiring knowledge. The secret to paying attention is being interested in what the teacher or book is saying. How do we do that? For history, government and social studies, for example, we need to take notes on key facts and ideas. Review what we have written and summarize by rewriting the main points. I have a BS in Education, and also have an English major. When I help a student with grammar, it's important to begin with what the student knows and build on increasing his/her writing and speaking skills. I look forward to helping the student understand how to priortize assignments and do the short assignments first. Also, another useful idea is using mnemonic techniques. Each student acquires knowledge differently, and it's important to have a tutor that is sensitive to each student's needs. Dianne

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

I found Dianne two months ago because I found my weakness in English grammar. I need someone who knows how to teach ESL and can customize my needs. I want to learn grammar systematically and also improve my English writing. As a tutor, Dianne is very patient and knows how to teach. She is very considerate and can adjust sessions based on my schedule. We had made some progress already, and I am pleased to take more lessons with her.

Glad we chose Dianne!

We chose Dianne from a list of WyzAnt tutors for my daughter’s SAT Writing/Reading prep. In addition to her background repertoire as an educator, Dianne has very good knowledge of the material and knows how to convey the knowledge to the student. She worked with my daughter methodically. She has wonderful personality, always punctual, and full of compassion. My daughter was satisfied, and I was glad we chose Dianne. I would recommend her to anyone who needs a tutor.

Patients and understanding!

Ms. Dianne help my son with his writing. She's very patient with him and see a lot of potential in him which in terms gave him confident to learn more about writing and reading. She recognized issues that my son has with reading and writing that teachers in his schools does not see to be able to help him. I highly recommend Ms. Dianne if you have a child that has difficulty in reading and writing subjects.

Wonderful and professional

I hired Diane for my personal assistant that needed some help with public speaking and getting rid of "ums" and "uhs". After his first session, I could immediately tell the difference. He also spoke highly of her and enjoyed the lesson. She is very efficient and even recommended monthly sessions, instead of weekly as I was expecting. She comes highly recommended.
