Thomas Edison State College
Hello, my name is Michael and I'm currently attending Thomas Edison State College for my English degree. With this I plan to travel to Japan and work as an ALT, or Assistant Language Teacher, while studying the Japanese language. I hope to become a translator for various mediums. I'm joining Wyzant to get more experience working with ESL students. I have personally tutored Vietnamese, Thai, and Japanese students at my college, and I would love to gain more experience. I'm currently working on methods to reduce accent reduction, so if you would like to sound more professional and boost your chances in the work field, you will benefit from these studies.
A little about me:
I'm currently studying Japanese, and I've taken advanced French 1 and 2 in high school. I've enjoyed Asian media since my childhood. I enjoy listening to Japanese and Korean music. I also play guitar, violin, cello and write screenplays in my free time. I would very much like to become a musician, with the majority of my listeners being from Asia. I'm currently a resident in Houston, Texas.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
